Our Hanover Specialty Insurance Brokers (HSIB), a Wholesale Brokerage Agency, is seeking an Underwriting Associate to join our growing team.

Position Overview:
Serves as integral member of the HSIB Managing General Underwriting team by handling routine underwriting processing requests. This role will support underwriters in servicing their assigned environmental book of business. This requires developing an understanding of underwriting principles, strategies, and product knowledge. Responsibilities of this position include preparatory work and set up for renewal and new business accounts. Focus on strong customer service, data integrity and surplus lines compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Renewal preparatory work and initial review including file set-up, for underwriter review and pricing.
- Generate and send pre-renewal solicitation letters to agents.
- Non-renewal and conditional renewal preparatory review and work order set up.
- Follow up with agents for renewal information or additional information as needed.
- Follow up with agents for renewal and new business bind orders.
- Verify that all necessary documentation is in the file and update helpdesk/ticketing system
- Handle loss run requests.
- First point of contact for mid-term endorsement requests, billing questions, and service issues.
- New business account set up and clearance.
- Act as liaison between underwriters, agents, and account manager.
- Generate monthly BDX reports to external carrier.
- Works with department leadership to facilitate continued operational improvements and efficiencies.
Requirements:
- Associate Degree or equivalent.
- Surplus Lines insurance license is a plus.
- 2+ years of related insurance experience, preferably in Environmental Insurance
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including strong customer service phone skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Attention to detail.
- Solid understanding of business technologies and workflows.
- Knowledge of Excel is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.

- Maintains service level agreements and compliance related deadlines consistently.
- Provides a high-level of accuracy with details.
- File documentation adhered to on consistent basis.
- Meets all renewal preparatory work deadlines to meet surplus lines filing requirements.
- Acceptable score on internal department quality audits.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Ability to use a personal computer and other standard office equipment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work cooperatively.
