Basic Function:
Responsible for assisting communications staff on game days in various roles to help promote and aid in the shaping of the Texans brand through the media.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist in the setup of Press Box on game day with seat cards, flip cards and seating charts.
- Hand out quotes, make copies and assist the media as necessary.
- Run copies of quarterly stats to media, broadcast booths, teams (if requested) or designated suites.
- Transcribe quotes for distribution to media.
- Assist staff in other areas including Media Will Call.
- Be available to spot for visiting radio teams if requested.
- Perform various other tasks that may be assigned from time to time by the Senior Strategic Communications Manager, Communications Coordinator or other full-time Communications staff.
- Subject to reasonable accommodations, position requires routine face-to-face personal interaction with other Club personnel; therefore, job responsibilities must be physically performed in the Club offices and not in a telecommuting manner.
- Ability to maintain attention to detail and ability to work effectively under pressure and within deadlines.
- Ability to maintain confidential and/or proprietary information.
Position requires routine face-to-face personal interaction with other Club personnel and fans at NRG Stadium and/or NRG Park during Houston Texans football games and other Club events; therefore, job responsibilities must be physically performed in the Club offices and/or at NRG Stadium/NRG Park as may be assigned and not in a telecommuting manner.
Subject to reasonable accommodations, position requires face-to-face personal interaction with other Club personnel and fans at Houston Texans home games, at other Houston Texans sponsored events held in and around NRG Stadium and/or NRG Park and at other locations in the Houston metropolitan area; therefore, responsibilities must be physically performed at the designated location and not in a telecommuting manner.
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma required.
- Bachelor’s degree, or in pursuit of Bachelor’s degree, from a four-year accredited college or university in Communications or related field preferred.
- Experience in professional or collegiate sports communications department preferred.
- Strong writing skills; proven experience in use of AP Style preferred.
- Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office software.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communications.
Physical Requirements:
- Occasional travel related to job duties and responsibilities.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.
- Must be able to talk, stand, walk, sit, drive, bend, squat, climb, twist and reach as necessary.
- Job requires walking around and standing for prolonged periods of time in various Club premises in and around NRG Stadium and NRG Park, as may be assigned.
