Job Title: Maintenance Technician I
Location: Chatham, VA
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (with rotating weekends and on-call duties)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Technician I to join our team in Chatham, VA. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with a wide variety of maintenance tasks across multiple trades, ensuring our facilities are safe, functional, and well-maintained. We are looking for a team player with a strong work ethic and the ability to interact courteously and effectively with colleagues, management, and clients.
Key Responsibilities:

Perform evaluations and minor repairs on plumbing systems, including toilets, urinals, sinks, and faucets.

Conduct basic electrical work, including replacing switches, receptacles, lighting fixtures, ballasts, and resetting breakers.

Assist with HVAC system maintenance, such as changing filters and belts, and performing preventative maintenance (PM) on equipment.

Perform a wide variety of general building repairs, including basic carpentry, prep work, and painting.

Address structural issues such as window, door, or wall repairs to ensure building integrity and safety.

Receive, manage, and complete work orders, maintaining accurate records of labor and materials used.

Strictly follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and consistently use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Maintain the good working order of company vehicles, including refueling and reporting any mechanical issues.

Assist in escorting contractors, vendors, and inspectors as needed.

Communicate effectively with the Maintenance Supervisor regarding work status and any repairs that may require an outside expert.
Qualifications and Skills:

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

A minimum of one year of experience working in a general maintenance role.

A one-year certificate from a college or technical school is a plus; equivalent on-the-job experience will be considered.

Working knowledge of basic HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical repair techniques.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or as part of a team.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate pleasantly and professionally.

Detail-oriented approach to ensure all tasks are completed to a high standard.

Must possess a valid driver's license.
Work Schedule and Conditions:

The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

This position requires participation in a rotating weekend schedule.

Must be willing to share on-call duty for emergency maintenance needs.

Overtime may be required, sometimes without advance notice, to complete assigned work.
Physical Demands:

Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as required by the job.

Ability to safely carry, extend, and climb ladders.
