HVAC Technician

Hourly Rate:  $25
Schedule:  Monday through Friday with Rotating On-Call
Hours:  7:30 AM to 4:30 PM (1 hour lunch)
Location:  Rome, GA

 MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS

• Install, maintain and repair heating, ventilation, and cooling units. Diagnose and repair of electronic, mechanical and electrical components of these systems.

• Performing preventive maintenance on equipment

• Following all safety requirements including Lockout/Tagout and use of appropriate PPE

• Maintain proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment in the vehicle. 

• Keeping appropriate records, including the Refrigerant Inventory and Usage Report

• Document all installed equipment: make, model, serial number, type of fuel, necessary test measurements, and pictures as necessary. 

• Diagnose diverse service issues, obtain any replacement parts, calibrate system to manufacturer’s recommendations, and explain fully to management what the issue is and what is needed to correct. 

• Requires flexibility and understanding that all maintenance staff may be required to perform duties outside their normal area of expertise to meet the mission and goals of the Facility Services Department.

• Receive and complete work orders while maintaining accurate records on material and labor.

• EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent. Certificate degree or two-year degree from a trade or community college in heating, air conditioning and refrigeration preferred.
• CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: CFC certification (Universal or Type II). Valid drivers’ license.
• EXPERIENCE: Requires three years’ experience in commercial installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting HVAC service issues.
• SKILLS: Good analytical skills and attention to detail with ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and manuals. Excellent customer service skills with desire to exceed customer expectations.
