Are you an experienced and dynamic leader in facilities management? We're seeking a Facility Director to oversee all physical plant operations for our commercial property in Lynchburg, VA. About the Role

The Facility Director is responsible for the comprehensive planning, organization, development, and direction of all physical plant operations for our commercial property. You'll ensure adherence to property policies and procedures, as well as all relevant federal, state, and local standards and regulations. This pivotal role oversees three core functions within our facilities department: maintenance, custodial services, and groundskeeping. You'll report directly to the Branch Manager.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee all physical plant operations and the administrative functions for the property and its divisions.
  • Manage our supervisors in charge of custodial services, groundskeeping, and maintenance, along with the administrative assistant.
  • Be responsible for staff training and professional development, ensuring compliance with all current regulations.
  • Oversee and assess the property's infrastructure.
  • Manage facility and equipment assessments, including forecasting long-term capital improvements.
  • Oversee assigned small-scale projects.
  • Maintain personnel records and handle all personnel-related matters, including annual reviews, disciplinary actions, payroll, and attendance.
  • Consult with and schedule subcontractors regularly for preventative maintenance, routine repairs, and other services.
  • Process all invoices and expenses related to the physical plant budget and monitor the budget effectively.
  • Remain on-call for after-hours emergencies, ensuring appropriate response and resolution.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring

  • A Bachelor's degree with significant experience, including a minimum of five years in a commercial facilities management role.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • A demonstrated customer service orientation, coupled with excellent problem-solving and time-management abilities.
  • Outstanding organizational and project management skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • The ability to maintain a flexible schedule, including nights, days, and weekends, as dictated by operational needs and events.

Physical Demands

The role may require the ability to bend, squat, stand, crawl, and climb. This includes walking for long distances, reaching above shoulders, handling objects, pushing, pulling, kneeling, and carrying or lifting over 25 lbs. Work may also necessitate operating in confined or high spaces.
