POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Nursing plans, directs and evaluates nursing services,
coordinates nursing services with other departments to effectively and
adequately meet the needs of residents, and staff, plans and provides for
on-site continuing education for all staff members, participates in
departmental meetings, attends and participates committee activities, review
and revises policies and procedures as necessary and performs other duties as
related to the nursing department. The Director of Nursing must have and maintain
the ability to direct and instruct employees in duties, techniques and principles, and must
be able to maintain good working
relationships with other departments.
The Director of Nursing is also responsible for the hiring, training,
and development of the nursing staff. This
includes the development of a structured, safe and positive therapeutic milieu.

· To coordinate nursing and medical services.
· Transcribe orders for restraints as indicated in federal and state regulations. Conduct nursing assessments post restraints and complete documentation as indicated in federal and state regulations.
· Provide supervision to the nursing staff to ensure quality delivery of services. Conduct/oversee performance evaluations identifying staff training needs and establishing goals for performance improvement.
· To identify nursing staff training needs and provide ongoing training and / or coordinate training.
· Assist in reviewing, revising, writing and implementing facility policies and procedures.
· Oversee employee Health Program.
· Oversee Infection Control Program.
· Review all nursing documentation to ensure quality as indicated by federal and state regulations.
· Enforce and abide by all required deadlines for treatment.
· Research and develop new nursing programs and trainings.
· Administers medications as ordered
· Transcribes physician orders.
· Performs nursing assessment at the time of admission and develops initial treatment plan interventions.
· Provides medication education and education on self-care skills.
· Documents nursing interventions and resident response in progress notes.
· Administers treatments as ordered.
· Inventories stock medications and supplies for reorder and expiration dates.
· Assist with and maintains accurate Special Treatment Procedures records.
· Assist with the physician as necessary.
· Attends continuing education per year.
· Assist Counselors with resident care as needed.
· Maintains strict code of resident confidentiality and promotion of resident rights.
· Informs parents of resident health care needs and follow-up progress.
· Prepares and provides on-coming shift nurse with accurate and informative reports.
· Prepares accurate documented reports of incidents and other unusual happenings or events.
· Maintains medical records and files in appropriate charts.
· Maintain quality codes of conduct and professionalism, i.e. strong work ethic, role modeling and commitment to improving quality of life to youth in our care.
· Participate in facility-wide Quality Improvement initiatives.
· Attend staff / unit meetings to discuss facility and milieu operations and to receive facility communications.
· Attend all mandatory and scheduled training.
· Request time off in advance according to policy.
· Minimal and legitimate requests for time off due to illness.
· Execute all emergency procedures according to the facility policies and procedures.
· Complete all documentation tasks related to the position. All documentation should be timely and accurate.
· Uphold professional standards of treatment and the mission of Sequel TSI in delivering services to youth.
· Maintain the confidentiality of the residents and the company and abide by all regulations pertaining to confidentiality including HIPAA.
· Maintain a safe secure therapeutic environment.
· All other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

SKILLS & ABILITY:
Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing and be legally licensed to practice nursing by the State of Florida Board of Nursing. License must be current.
Experience: Must possess one year of supervisory experience with some experience working with adolescents.
