Mingus Mountain Academy, has immediate openings for a Cook in Prescott Valley, AZ. Mingus Mountain Academy is a residential treatment center for emotionally and behaviorally at-risk adolescent girls that helps them achieve a positive, healthy future. Founded in 1985, the Academy is located on a 120-acre campus surrounded by National Forest, 25 minutes from the town of Prescott Valley, Arizona. Our program combines a positive culture, caring staff, careful medical treatment, individualized psychotherapy and education, and numerous activities, including our unique equestrian program.
The Job:
The Cook is responsible for assisting the dietary team with the preparation, cooking and serving of meals to include breakfast, lunch and dinner for residents. The Cook will also wash dishes, clean the kitchen area, take inventory and perform other job duties as requested.
Snapshot of Daily Duties:
- Comply with the approved menu by the registered dietician; identify alternative meals for therapeutic diets, allergic students, and vegetarians. Must be able to make comparable alternatives or adjustments to the menu as needed.
- Serve meals that are nutritious, balanced and attractive.
- Must be able to follow recipes at varying levels of difficulty and plan and schedule cooking procedures so that completed foods are ready and held at the correct temperature and time in compliance with the sanitation regulations.
- Able to examine foods for quality and freshness, monitor temperatures and steam pressures in compliance with sanitation regulations.
- Supervise, teach and work with students and other staff in keeping the dining room and kitchen clean and organized.
- Before leaving shift, assure kitchen, each dry storage and dining room areas are clean and sanitized.
The Must Haves:
- Food Service experience is required.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
