DESCRIPTION SUMMARY


Responsible for reviewing and verifying paperwork for regulatory and internal compliance. Assists leading the plant in assessing food quality and safety and other initiatives to improve products and processes related to quality, food safety and consistency. As a key member of the plant quality management team, the HACCP Coordinator assists the plant quality manager in providing quality and food safety leadership to employees. Participates in/leads projects to improve plant quality and food safety performance.




PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


• Advises plant on all areas of HACCP. Acts as plant regulatory expert on HACCP management system. • Reviews and verifies paperwork for regulatory and internal compliance. • Notifies Quality Assurance Manager and plant operations management of any potential issues identified during paperwork review. • Assists operations in addressing open or potential quality issues associated with critical control points. • Recommends and/or develops training programs with regards to HACCP and regulatory requirements. • Provides necessary training will all levels of operations to ensure knowledge and compliance of the plant’s HACCP management system. • Works with quality and plant management to address internal and third-party audit findings. • Resolves non-conformance issues/quality problems at plant facilities, warehouses, and in the market. Works with plant management team to develop corrective action plans and communicates plans to QA and Plant Manager. • Supports quality team with management/supervision duties on an as needed basis. Able to fill in for quality manager/supervisor and direct quality technicians. • Ensures compliance to quality, food safety, 5s, OSHA, and HACCP support programs. Assures conformity to all company, customer, and government standards.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


EDUCATION: Bachelor Degree in chemistry, biology, microbiology, food science, or equivalent experience. EXPERIENCE: Three to five years of experience as a HACCP Coordinator in a food related industry. CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE: None required.
 


ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED


• Must be detailed oriented. • Working knowledge of Microsoft products (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint). • Minitab experience, a plus
