DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Maintain adequate levels of management, repair and operations (MRO) inventory on-hand to ensure continuous flow of production on the plant floor.  Lead the procurement function responsible for purchasing of inventory that support plant operation, while continuously identifying and implementing cost saving/containment ideas.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Confer with Maintenance Planner to forecast inventory needs to ensure availability of materials for preventative maintenance needs or unforeseen repairs.
  • Complete requisition documentation for requested parts or items and submit to Corporate MRO for approval.
  • Create purchase orders for approved requisitions and submit to vendors.
  • Communicate with vendors to get quotes and conduct pricing research to achieve lowest costs for replenishing inventory.
  • Document all received inventory and deliver to appropriate party or stock item in appropriate area.
  • Check all ordered parts, machines, etc. immediately upon receipt to ensure order specifications were met.
  • Document receipt of all parts, machines, etc. into company maintenance tracking program.
  • Track outflow of inventory items, including who checked out the item and for what purpose.
  • Analyze inventory levels via cycle counting to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste and optimize MRO inventory practices.
  • Monitor and control inventory projects/moves.
  • Confer with department supervisors or other personnel to assess progress and discuss needed changes.
  • Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Support all safety, food quality and sanitation initiatives and policies.
  • Follow SugarCreek safety rules and procedures.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.  


MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, or other similar field, or equivalent experience.
Experience:
5+ years of experience in production planning/inventory control (MRO).
Certification or License Requirements:
None required. APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management preferred.

  • Knows and understands the relationship between daily operations and supply chain.
  • Knows and understands MRO best practices, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) / Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and effectively utilizes knowledge.
  • Able to communicate effectively with others, especially via email and telephone with people within the company.
  • Able to read and comprehend printed and electronic information.
  • Able to use computers proficiently with strong competence in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel).
  • Able to work collaboratively with other departments and Management.
  • Able to use critical thinking to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches to problems.
  • Possesses the skills to manage time and multitask efficiently while maintaining a detail-oriented work style.
  • Possesses an honest and ethical character.
  • Possesses the skills to compare costs and benefits of potential actions then choose the most appropriate action.
  • Possesses strong quantitative analysis skills.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS

No unusual physical requirements. Physical requirements are consistent with typical production scheduling positions, including mostly sitting with some standing/walking required.  Other light physical activity like using stairs or occasionally moving items weighing less than 15lbs may be required as needed. Some travel may be required in between plants.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

Some travel to other locations is required.

 

Most work is performed in an industrial storage area in a manufacturing facility.  Some work is performed in an indoor, manufacturing facility with close proximity to heavy and hazardous machinery.  Safety wear is required, including hard hat, hairnet, hearing protection, safety glasses, steel toe boots, coats and other necessary equipment.  Some work is performed outside of the manufacturing facility, including roof access.
