SSAB Special Steels Powder Technology is looking for a motivated, performance-driven Technical Key Account Manager to join our Powder Technology team to be responsible for the North American market. We are committed to safety and adding value, and we are looking for someone passionate about delivering outstanding customer service, developing business, giving technical support, and networking with customers. The main markets you will be working with are defense, automotive and the industrial sector. 

About the position

As a Key Account Manager, you will collaborate closely with the Powder technology team and Protection team, providing technical sales and implementation support. Your primary focus is to drive technical sales in the region, visit customers and develop new leads and opportunities for our powder products. You will do this through the provision of effective methods, strategies and the Company’s goals and values.  You will report to the Head of Powder Technology.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and secure yearly sales with existing and potential customers in the region through technical support.
  • Independently set up sales presentations, contracts and proposals. Pursue sales both at existing and new customers. Negotiate offers including prices and delivery times and other terms.
  • Support customers development and implementation of Powder Technology products.
  • Develop strategic goals for the region together with the ASM and break these down into relevant and concrete sales and development activities.
  • To work according to and support SSAB´s short- and long-term strategic goals.
  • Always do the job safely, share relevant risk observations with the organization and help colleagues to act safely.
  • As KAM you also have the responsibility to follow and support customers independent of geographical areas and borders when projects are of a global character – frequent travelling is required.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution, or a comparable combination of education and experience (could include application, product or market development)
  • 2 - 4+ years of proven experience within the steel, defense, protection &/or automotive industry
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate and present to internal and external customers
  • Extremely organized and able to perform work independently and as a team member to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Strong attention to details, analytical skills, exceptional judgment, dependable, excellent teamwork skills, good time management skills, creative, problem-solving, hardworking & persistent, professional competence, proactive
  • Current/active driver’s license
  • This role involves weekly travel throughout North America and occasional trips to Europe
  • Experience in additive manufacturing is highly valued
