Warehouse Team Lead

Job purpose:
The Warehouse Team Leader will ensure that his/her crews achieve the targets established by management and guides the team members to perform at their full potential. This position has the responsibility for ensuring the safety, productivity, and efficiency in the stores warehouse on a daily basis. This position requires both working in an operational, hands-on capacity, as well as working in a maintenance capacity, and assists with administrative duties in the warehouse. This position requires working on weekends and rotating swing shifts as needed.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Provide leadership for the warehouse daily and is a role model to set an example for stores employees to follow.
- Follows the warehouse standard operating procedures and safe operating practices (JSA/SOP’s) and makes suggestions for improvement to procedures where applicable.
- Assists with material handling by use of the crane, forklift, hubtex and flatbed.
- Supports the safety business plan and assists the manager with meeting quarterly goals.
- Writes purchase orders for operations, including maintaining rental agreements for equipment in the warehouse.
- Maintains all pre-inspection logbooks for the crane, hubtex, forklifts, scissor lift and flatbed semi.
- Ensures daily housekeeping is performed and the proper PPE is available. This includes monitoring freight traffic in the warehouse in accordance with guidelines.
- Ensures that all material during the shift is being received and put away on a timely basis.
- Work with purchasing and vendors on over shipments, short shipments, and damaged shipments, (OSD).
- Reviews time sheets and approves weekly time.
- Provides support to the manager with 5S projects and reviews pre-job inspections with contractors during on-site work.
- Provide support to the inventory manager and stores personnel in troubleshooting and locating material.
- Assist in the training of new hires and cross-training of all warehouse employees
Qualifications: Education and Experience:
Required Education:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
Preferred Education:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree, with a focus on Business and Logistics.
Required Experience:
- Proficient in all Warehouse Clerk Qualifications
- Good computer skills (including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel).
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure, while maintaining composure and professionalism.
- Ability to work in a team environment with leadership capabilities and a positive attitude.
- Detail oriented and a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to handle a fast-paced work environment with low margin of error.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess effective decision-making skills.
- Regular and reliable attendance
Preferred Education:
- Knowledge of warehouse and inventory processes.
- Knowledge of software-based warehouse applications.
Working conditions:
The employee will frequently be required to:
- Sit, walk, stand – alternating throughout shift
- Reach and twist at waist/desk level
- Lift and move up to 25 pounds
- Perform repetitive tasks for extended periods
The employee will occasionally be required to:
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Reach above shoulder level and below waist level
- Balance, stoop, kneel or crouch and climb stairs
The position requires the following vision, talking and hearing capabilities:

- Peripheral vision and depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
- Communicating (talking and hearing) in person, on the phone, and/or in group settings

- Impact Drills, Hammer Drills, Reciprocating Saw, Circular Saws, Jig Saws.
- Scanners, Copiers, Label Maker, Laminator.

- Flatbed Semi
- Demag 25 Ton Crane
- Scissor Lift
The employee will work in the following conditions:
- Indoors and Outdoors
- Amid noise
- Around equipment in motion
- Amid mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards
- While wearing safety equipment and/or clothing for protection from hazards
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
- This position supervises other personnel working the same shift and will lead and direct 7 Warehouse Clerks
Position Type – Work Hours – Travel Requirements:
- Position is full time, hourly and is eligible for overtime
- Position works 12 hours a day, swing shifts to include both days and weekends
