Traffic Dispatcher

Job purpose:
This position is responsible for day-to-day truck load planning and dispatch execution while managing carrier selection and the timely dispatch of outbound and inbound shipments. This position will have contact with trucking companies and internal customers daily.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Execute day-to-day truck load planning and dispatch
- Manage carrier selection and timely dispatch of outbound and inbound shipments
- Extract data with system programs used for load scheduling
- Analyze data to build shippable loads and calculate delivery within customer parameters
- Enter shippable loads into the truck scheduling program
- Receive phone calls, emails and internal radio communications with carriers and shipping team
- Coordinate with motor carriers to arrange pickup and delivery
- Partner with key personnel to maximize throughput and operational efficiencies while minimizing costs
- Trouble shooting with carriers and the sales department to resolve issues
- Maintain and develop professional working relationships with the carriers
Qualifications: Education and Experience:
Required Education:
- Associates degree in Business, Transportation, Supply Chain or High School diploma/GED and five years equivalent experience
Preferred Education:
- Bachelors degree in Transportation or Supply Chain Management
Required Experience:
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Prior transportation or shipping experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Possess attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated teamwork and conflict resolution
- Preplanning and problem solving skills
- Ability to multi-task and make changes quickly in a fast-paced environment
- Regular and reliable attendance
Preferred Experience:
- Transportation management systems experience
- Vendor or customer interactive experience
Working conditions:
This position operates in an office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and scanners. This role is partially sedentary, however, some filing and handling of materials is required. This would require the ability to walk, bend, kneel, or stand, use of hands to finger, hold and handle, reach with hands and arms and to push / pull, lift or carry items up to 20 lbs.
The employee will occasionally be required to:
- This position would periodically require work in the mill environment with some exposure to heat/cold, walking/stairs, noise and wearing safety equipment/clothing for protection from hazards
- Drive for departmental errands and meetings

Position Type – Work Hours – Travel Requirements:
- Position is full time, exempt
- Position works day shift, Monday through Friday – some weekend hours or holidays may be required
- Onsite office presence required
- Travel is expected to comprise less than 5% of work hours
