We are seeking a passionate and creative Middle School Art Teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate fosters a love for artistic expression, inspires students to explore a variety of media, techniques, and cultural perspectives, and cultivates critical thinking and creativity in a supportive classroom environment. The Visual Arts Teacher will design and deliver a dynamic curriculum that aligns with school standards and promotes technical skill development and imaginative exploration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver engaging art instruction for students.

  • Develop units and lessons that explore a range of artistic styles, materials, techniques, and historical contexts.

  • Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning styles and abilities.

  • Integrate technology, contemporary art practices, and cross-curricular connections into the art curriculum.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages risk-taking, collaboration, and self-expression.

  • Organize student art exhibitions, displays, and participate in school-wide events and celebrations of student work.

  • Assess and document student growth through portfolios, critiques, and standards-based grading practices.

  • Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress.

  • Collaborate with the Visual and Performing Arts team and other faculty members to support interdisciplinary initiatives and school-wide projects.

  • Maintain a well-organized, safe, and welcoming art studio space.

  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current in art education best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

  • Valid teaching certification in Art Education (or eligibility for certification).

  • Prior experience teaching middle school students is preferred.

  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage middle school learners.

  • Proficiency in a wide range of artistic media, including both traditional and digital art techniques.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

  • Passion for working with young adolescents and nurturing their creative growth.
