Non-Trade Sales Executive

The Job Profile
Reporting to the Non-Trade Sales Director, the Non-Trade Sales Executive will manage and grow sales of our adult fiction, non-fiction, client and distributed books into UK’s special sales retailers and wholesalers, including major gift, subscription boxes, high street, religious, manga, museum/gallery, and MBS specialists.
The Non-Trade Sales Executive will use market knowledge and understanding of individual accounts to formulate customer specific strategies, including the creation of exclusive products beyond standard publishing offerings.
The Job Role
The successful applicant will be responsible for managing customer accounts through regular visits to stores, head offices, and virtual meetings, while driving additional sales activity across the assigned territory. They will actively contribute to acquisition decisions by providing key market and product insights, and serve as the primary sales team liaison for the special sales market, collaborating effectively across departments. They will maintain up-to-date knowledge of the product range to support effective selling and will coordinate with editorial, production, and design teams to develop and sell bespoke special editions for subscription box customers, aiming to maximise sales opportunities in this growing segment.
The Candidate Profile
The Non-Trade Sales Executive will be confident and creative professional with strong presentation, organisational, and interpersonal skills. They will be able to thrive under pressure, respond to ambitious targets and take initiative. They will have proven strengths in data analysis to drive sales, detailed logistics management, publishing processes, and the end-to-end development and negotiation of bespoke products.
It is important you have excellent system abilities, an expertise in spreadsheets, presentations and databases. You will have passion, understanding and some knowledge of the book market, particularly beyond the traditional trade along with an awareness of competitor titles and authors.
