Summary

The Senior Specialist, Marketing Technology (Marketo) plays a critical role in optimizing and managing SHRM’s marketing automation platform. This position is responsible for ensuring seamless campaign execution and data-driven decision-making. 

 

The role is responsible for developing and maintaining scalable Marketo solutions, ensuring proper integrations with other business systems, and providing strategic guidance in marketing technology best practices. The Sr. Specialist, Marketing Technology will empower our teams to effectively engage audiences, enhance personalization, and drive business growth. 

 

Responsibilities

MarTech Maintenance & Performance

  • Own the daily maintenance and health of Marketo, Vibes, and Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO), ensuring smooth and reliable performance.
  • Monitor and manage platform integrations, data flows, and syncs to ensure accurate reporting and segmentation.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for platform optimization and process improvement.

Stakeholder Support

  • Serve as the first point of contact for all platform-related questions, requests, and troubleshooting from marketing stakeholders.
  • Partner with campaign managers and channel leads to ensure platforms are being leveraged effectively for audience targeting, automation, and personalization.
  • Collaborate with IT, analytics, and external vendors as needed to resolve issues or implement new features and functionality.

Platform Training & Documentation

  • Lead monthly training and upskilling sessions for the marketing organization to boost tool adoption, promote best practices, and drive platform maturity.
  • Create and maintain documentation, playbooks, and internal resources related to platform use and configurations.

 

Education & Experience Requirements

Education:

  • Germane degree and non-degree credentials or other verifications of skills and competencies will be considered.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in marketing automation, email marketing, or digital marketing, preferably in both B2B and B2C environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Marketo.
  • Experience analyzing campaign performance using Marketo, Google Analytics, or other marketing analytics tools.
  • Experience with CRM platforms (Salesforce preferred) and integrating them with Marketo preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong copywriting and content development skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to different audience segments.
  • Understanding of lead nurturing, segmentation, and marketing automation workflows.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively across teams.
  • Knowledge of SEO, paid media, or social media marketing preferred.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) or similar CMS platforms preferred.
  • Background in HR, membership organizations, or events marketing preferred.

 

Certifications

  • Marketo Certified Associate (MCA), Marketo Certified Expert (MCE), and/or Marketo Certified Solutions Architect (MCSA) a plus.

 

Physical Requirements

This position operates in a typical office environment and requires the ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Physical requirements may include:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, handling documents, and using office equipment.
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds as needed.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with colleagues and stakeholders.

 

Work Environment

Hybrid Position (3 Days In-Office, 2 Days Remote):

  • This position follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office presence [three days per week] and remote work [two days per week]. Core work hours will be designated by the department.  The office environment includes a standard workstation setup with collaborative spaces, while remote work requires a reliable high-speed internet connection and a suitable home workspace. Employees must maintain availability during standard business hours and adhere to company policies for both in-office and remote work.

Travel: 0 – 10%

The hiring range for this position is $78,000 to $95,000 per year. This range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
