Our experienced staff of Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Mental Health Specialists, Parent Partners and other therapists/counselors provide case management, mental health care and a range of support services in our outpatient clinics and 24/7 treatment facilities, and in community settings such as schools and homes. Our dedicated teams work collaboratively and in partnership with family members, school administrators and faculty, county social workers, case managers, probation officers and other community-based agencies.

Job Summary:

The Drug and Alcohol (D&A) Counselor provides drug and alcohol education to program participants including their parents and family via psycho-educational groups aimed at prevention and supporting wellness and recovery. The groups and parent education groups are provided in the office or at community venues. Services are provided through the use of approved evidence based practices.

Job Duties:

  • Provides drug and alcohol prevention and early intervention psycho-educational
    groups to program participants and their families, based on approved or
    county required curriculum or evidence based practice

  • Provides drug and alcohol prevention and early intervention psycho-educational
    workshops to the parents and families of program participants utilizing
    approved or county required curriculum or evidence based practice.

  • Implements harm reduction techniques using models such as Motivational Interviewing
    and Seven Challenges.

  • Provides case management services to clients and their families.

  • Complies with all required deadlines and program requirements.

  • Ensures appropriate documentation of services using California Outcome Measurement Services
    (CalOMS).

  • Completes drug assessments and client care planning as assigned.

  • Up to 60% Travel

Minimum Qualifications:

Education

High School Diploma required, Associate of Arts degree in child
counseling, development or psychology, social services or substance abuse
counseling or Bachelor's degree in child counseling, development or psychology,
social services or substance abuse counseling preferred; PLUS one
(1) year of experience working in the social service or alcohol and drug
counseling field. Also, must be a certified drug counselor with an accredited
organization (preferred) or be enrolled in substance use certification program
and registered with accreditation organization. Those enrolled are
expected to complete the certification as assigned within the certification
program

Experience

At least 1 year of experience facilitating substance
abuse related groups.

License or Certification

Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor.
Valid California Driver's License.
