As the Business Analyst, you will be responsible for collaborating with business units to gather, document, and analyze requirements for custom software solutions, serving as the bridge between business stakeholders and development teams. You will translate business needs into functional and technical specifications, support Agile development efforts, create process models and wireframes, and help ensure the successful delivery of solutions leveraging technologies like Angular.js, Laravel, and MySQL. In this role, you will also lead requirements sessions, manage project updates, support testing efforts, and maintain clear, up-to-date documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.

 

This individual must live local to the Metro Detroit area.

 

Business Analyst Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborate with business units to gather, document, and analyze business requirements for custom software solutions.
  • Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and development teams, translating business needs into functional and technical specifications.
  • Schedule, facilitate, and lead requirements gathering sessions, user story creation, and backlog grooming.
  • Work closely with development teams leveraging Angular.js, Laravel and MySQL to ensure a clear understanding of requirements and successful delivery of solutions.
  • Create process models, data flow diagrams, and wireframes to support solution design.
  • Participate in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives as part of an Agile development team.
  • Conduct gap analysis and propose effective solutions that align with business goals.
  • Support testing efforts by reviewing test cases, validating deliverables, and facilitating user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Track project progress, manage changes in scope, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
  • Ensure documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Business Analyst Qualifications and Skills:

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.  
  • Must meet company background check and drug screen requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in an IT environment.
  • Experience working on custom development projects, ideally involving Angular.js or similar JavaScript frameworks, Laravel, and MySQL.
  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Proficiency in business analysis tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Visio, Lucid chart).
  • Experience designing flowcharts to visualize and document business processes and system workflows.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
