Primary Purpose of Position

The Activities Director oversees Rod and Gun (Activities) and Land/Cattle operations. They are responsible for the guidance of Department Leaders in these areas, ensuring a seamless experience for guest interactions, scheduling, and activities; while managing guides, cattle and ranch operations and activities resources.  This role collaborates directly with Department Leaders to ensure all Ranch wide activities run smoothly. Additionally, they are responsible for the oversight of staff training and development to ensure a fun, safe and educational environment is provided to meet and exceed the expectations of guests.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Executive Team representation for the property. Collaborate with other senior leadership on all ranch happenings and initiatives.
  2. Present new hire training as well as departmental training through observations of activities and feedback.
  3. Plan, develop or maintain programming and activities for Ranch Guests. Support implementation and training as applicable.
  4. Effectively manage inventory, including retail offerings for the department.
  5. Attend meetings and disseminate Ranch-wide information to guests and departments under the purview of this position.
  6. Inspect and order to maintain par levels of guest and guide equipment for departments.
  7. Manage maintenance logs for all equipment and supplies.
  8. Collaborate with all Ranch departments as it relates to overlap for the guest experience.
  9. Address guest concerns, requests and special requirements in a timely manner to ensure guest satisfaction.
  10. Oversee the Activities Guides schedule to maximize the use of Ranch activities and balance it with guest requests and within budget.
  11. Oversee Children’s Programming and Events
  12. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations
  13. Have intimate knowledge about all local and on-Ranch activities.  Promote the complete Ranch experience, including the spa, transportation, and off property activities.
  14. Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and co-ordinations with other team members. Establishing new procedures to increase departmental proficiency and productivity.
  15. Ability to Lead/Guide any Ranch sponsored activity, adjusting as necessary to meet the skill level and demands of the guests.

Education/Experience

 

  • CPR Certified
  • 3 – 5 years of outdoor hunting/fishing/activities experience
  • Proven experience working in a luxury environment with high profile guests
  • Ability to clearly communicate with guests, management and coworkers to their understanding.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite and necessary operational systems.
  • Must be eligible to become a licensed outfitter/guide
  • Valid driver’s license with clean record.
  • 3-5 years leadership experience

 

Skills/Physical Demand

  1. Possesses leadership and management skills, focusing on both team and guest needs and reacting in a swift and appropriate manner
  2. Extensive knowledge of different types of outdoor activities i.e.; Shooting (shotgun, pistol, rifle), Archery, Downhill skiing or Snowboarding, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling)
  3. Knowledge of standard Montana State Outfitters/Guide laws, State/BLM/National Forest Permit/Usage laws
  4. Retail sales/sourcing experience a plus
  5. Budget and financial administration.
  6. Able and experienced to respond in emergency situation.
  7. EMT Certification Preferred
