The Senior Tax & Investment Manager ensures effective tax services in the Wealth Management Department. Responsibilities include preparing and analyzing tax records, processing tax returns, and maintaining tax records. They address significant issues with senior management, provide supervision to other Tax Accountants, and are involved in business development. Additionally, they offer financial planning and investment advice to clients, focusing on client acquisition, communication, and management. As the primary client contact, they possess deep investment and financial planning knowledge and collaborate with clients' professional advisors.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Applies in-depth knowledge of individual and business taxation principles and attains specialized knowledge in at least 5 areas of individual or business taxation.
  • Prepares and reviews tax returns.
  • Prepares and presents tax planning results to clients.
  • Initiates and reviews consulting engagements.
  • Represents clients during tax exams; understands appeal and settlement process, penalties and interest.
  • Responsible for billing and collections on assigned clients.
  • Initiates client contact for proactive services; maintains professional relationships with assigned clients; develops additional services from existing clients.
  • Supervises and mentors other accountants to develop their skills and expertise.
  • Participate as a leader in the strategic development of the department.
  • Presents in-house training on complex tax topics.
  • Establish and maintain new client relationships.
  • Establish priorities/goals and meet timelines/deadlines for new client acquisition.
  • Develop existing client relationships with excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Present client reports and organize/run client meetings.
  • Participate as active member of Investment Committee.
  • Work with other team members to delivery exceptional client service.
  • Assist in financial planning process and implement recommendations with other advisors.
  • Rebalance portfolios, create recommendations, and implement strategy.
  • Ensure that client portfolios are managed according to the asset allocation as agreed upon by the client and Relationship Manager and as documented in the Investment Policy Statement (IPS).
  • Maintain basic knowledge of significant software applications (Envestnet/Tamarac, Portfolio Center, Junxure, and Microsoft Office).
  • Develop new processes and procedures when necessary to meet expected and required client service levels and client requests.
  • Stay current with changes in regulatory rules and regulations and industry practices.
  • Assists REDW Principals in the strategic development of the department.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive client and department information and issues at all times.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Significant experience with managing complex, individual and corporate client relationships.
  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills and the strong ability to multi-task.
  • Specialized knowledge of individual and business taxation principles, estates and trusts.
  • Detailed knowledge of payroll tax issues that may impact assigned clients.
  • Detailed knowledge of property taxes, excise taxes applicable to assigned clients.
  • Familiar with general bookkeeping packages; can make recommendations to clients base on their needs.
  • Proficient with tax/asset management software applications.
  • Experience in acquiring and servicing wealth management clients.
  • Strong presentation and/or public speaking skills and written communication skills.
  • Proven team member management and interpersonal skills.
  • Positive, self-starter attitude and desire to exceed expectations at every opportunity.
  • Strong attention to detail, highly organized and focused on work quality.
  • Knowledge of operations for wealth management firm/Registered Investment Advisor (RIA).
  • Strong aptitude to learn, implement and use new software.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring others.
  • Impeccable reputation in the securities industry with excellent regulatory history.
  • Experience with client relationship and engagement management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • CPA Certified, current license required.
  • Financial Accreditations: CIMA®, AIF®, AIFA®, CFP®, PFS, or CFA (preferred).
  • 7+ years of relevant accounting, tax, financial planning and investment experience.
  • Experience in the securities industry (Preferred).
  • Proficiency with Envestnet/Tamarac, Junxure, and Microsoft Office (Preferred).
  • Securities 65 or 66 license (Preferred).

The potential annualized pay range for this position is $103,596 - $155,394. We make compensation offers within the range based on a range of individual factors, including but not limited to location, skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications, business needs, and applicable employment laws. These factors may also be taken into consideration to offer above or below the pay range.
