Maintenance Technician - DIST (USA)
Purpose
To maintain all Fleet assets by planning, scheduling, and executing corrective and preventative maintenance of vehicles like but not limited to: Forklifts, Yard Mules, Rail King, Pick-up trucks, Scissor lifts, Boom Lifts, golf carts, and any vehicle on wheels owned or operated by Ravago.

Area of Focus

Diagnoses and locates mechanical problems on fleet vehicles and equipment.

Repairs brakes, engines, electrical, fuel, hydraulic, transmission, ignition, air, exhaust, axle assemblies and related systems using a variety of hand, electric, air-driven tools, and diagnostic instruments.

Performs routine and preventative maintenance, lubrication and minor adjustments on vehicles and related equipment. Promptly reports any operational problems with machines or equipment to the immediate Supervisor.

Perform mechanical and electrical trouble shooting and repair of equipment;

Secondary Area of Focus

Performs all duties in compliance with safety policies and makes others aware of potential hazards in work area.

Practices good housekeeping and cleans work areas machinery, tools and equipment.

Inspects vehicles and equipment for compliance with applicable policies, rules and regulations for roadworthiness and safety. Take corrective action per procedure in assigned area. Investigates vehicle / equipment damage, completes forms, participates and completes remedial actions to prevent further occurrences within assigned deadlines.

Test drives vehicle to confirm safe and proper operation;

Performs tests on specific parts and systems to ensure proper function;

To utilize CMMS (MPulse) or maintenance software as required.

Welding and metal fabrication of parts in need of repair;

Maintain communication among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Commit to OCS Blue & OSHA Safety facility Standard.

Any other maintenance related task assigned by Maintenance Supervisor or Manager.

Competencies; Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA)

General maintenance skills (lubrication, electrical troubleshooting and repair, plumbing, drilling, basic tools usage and handling).

Good knowledge and use of basic maintenance hand tools.

Must be willing to work overtime or on rotating workdays or shifts as required.

Basic math skills is a plus.

Must have valid Class “C” Driver’s License.

Specialized training in vehicle and equipment maintenance with knowledge and experience in the areas of automotive and truck mechanics, gas and diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, valves, generators and welding and body repair.

Ability to setup desk equipment including setting up equipment on top of desks and connecting cables and power cords under desk

Instrumentation and electrical maintenance knowledge is a plus.
Minimum Qualifications/ Education / Experience / Certifications

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent
-
Experience:
-
2-5 years’ experience in related maintenance / repair of the following: pickup trucks, 1-5 ton trucks, trailer equipped truck, forklifts, material handling equipment, light welding and metal fabrication.

Licenses / Certifications:

Valid driver’s license – required

Scissor lift, Forklift and Boom Lift operation certification

Language:
-
Able to read, write and comprehend English.

Bi-Lingual – able to communicate in Spanish is a plus
