Essential Duties:
- Check the workstation before, during and after shifts for proper set-up and cleanliness.
- Greet guests and introduce yourself in a friendly and courteous manner and explain any special and / or restaurant promotions for guest awareness.
- Record details of the order from guests, repeating the order to check for accuracy.
- Input orders into the POS (micros system) to ensure printing in kitchen and or bar.
- If applicable, prepare beverages as were ordered by the guest.
- Place all required flatware and condiments on table prior to food being delivered along with the beverages ordered.
- Retrieve orders from the kitchen, confirm their accuracy and deliver to guests with the appropriate condiments. Abide by all state, federal and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests.
- Ensure orders are complete with proper utensils and condiments.
- Replenish beverages as necessary and check with guests for overall satisfaction.
- Market and serve any dessert items or specialty drinks upon request.
- Present checks to guests promptly after checking for accuracy letting them know that you will be their cashier.
- Ensure cash bank balances at the end of shift.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Restaurant Manager or Bartender/Supervisor.
Knowledge and Skills:
- The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
- Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations and
- etiquette.
- Knowledge of appropriate table settings, serviceware and menu items.
- Ability to read, speak and write the English language sufficiently to understand menus,
- special promotions and communicate with guests to explain and record orders.
- Ability to remember, recite and promote all menu items and specials.
- Ability to operate a keyboard and learn point of sale procedures to pre-check orders and
- generate guest checks.
Other Duties:
- Perform all clearing and resetting of tables.
- Perform all assigned sidework including replenishing condiments, restocking sidestands and folding napkins.
- Perform general cleaning tasks, using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by the supervisor, to adhere to health standards.
- Moving tables and chairs to accommodate reservations outside the normal floor plan.
- Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
- Indoors without air conditioning in the front of the house.
- Outdoors where wind and elements can be a factor.
- Going from carpet to tile floor. Sometimes tile floor can have water and or oil spills that need to be cleaned up.
- Hot in the kitchen due to ovens and grills.
- Works with some minor chemicals for cleaning tables.
Work Hours:
- Hours vary. Must be able to work hours / shift and days as determined by the manager based on business needs.
- Ability to work more than 40 hours per week when needed.

- Fax/Copy machine
Mental and Physical Demands:
- Ability to take and present orders accurately.
- Ability to remember daily food and beverage specials and recite to the guests.
- Ability to remember menu item preparation and recite to guests.
- Ability to remember where items are located on the Micros and under which screen they can be found.
- Ability to prioritize and organize workload.
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to manage stressful and challenging situations
- Ability to stand, walk, bend and reach at fast pace for 7 ½ hours out of an 8 hour shift.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25lbs.
- Ability to carry trays with food and beverage.
- Carrying buckets of ice to replenish ice bin.
- Pulling pushing tables and chairs to accommodate number of guests required for a specific table.
Communication Demands:
- Able to communicate effectively in English with guests, co-workers including bartender, cooks, stewards and manager.
- Able to effectively communicate in a warm and friendly manner
- Able to handle disgruntled guests in a positive manner
- Ability to remember, recite and promote menu items.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
- 1 Year previous experience in food and beverage.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to obtain Department of Health TB clearance
- Must be 18 years of age if serving or selling alcoholic beverages.
- Ability to obtain Hawaii State Liquor Card
- Ability to speak, read, and write the English language to perform job duties
- Must be pleasant and friendly
- Ability to abide by all state, federal and corporate liquor regulations, pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests, to ensure all laws are followed.
