Store Operations Section Manager (Night Shift)
Summary
The Operations Section Manager is responsible for the overall performance, presentation, and productivity of an assigned section in the grocery store Produce, Dairy, Frozen, or Dry goods. This includes ensuring the section is fully stocked, clean, visually appealing, and compliant with food safety and store standards. The manager leads a team, oversees inventory, and ensures the store maintains a “Grand Opening” condition at all times. The role also includes night operations management, preparing the store for the next business day, and supporting urgent store needs.
Job Responsibilities and Duties include but are not limited to
General Operations
- Oversee daily operations of overall store partnering with management of different Sections of the store to include Perishables Department.
- Ensure products are stocked, rotated (FIFO), faced, and priced correctly.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and visual merchandising.
- Set up and maintain promotional signage and POP displays.
- Manage inventory levels, minimize shrink, and place accurate orders.
- Monitor stock levels to maintain optimal inventory.
- Minimize shrink through accurate ordering, rotation, and handling procedures.
- Lead, schedule, train, and coach section team members.
- Resolve customer inquiries and ensure a high-quality shopping experience.
- Enforce compliance with food safety, store policies, and quality standards.
- Communicate section performance with store leadership.
Night Operations & Store Readiness (5 PM – 2 AM)
- Supervise overnight operations and ensure readiness for opening hours.
- Coordinate and complete cleaning, stocking, and merchandising tasks.
- Assign tasks, manage breaks, and monitor overnight staff productivity.
- Refresh POP materials and promotional signage.
- Oversee store appearance, perishable quality checks, and equipment readiness.
- Handle urgent issues, incidents, and customer complaints.
- Admin support for Store Manager and discount handling for ready-to-eat perishables.
- Support front-end operations during busy hours (e.g., cashier coverage).
- Maintain shopping carts and baskets availability.
- Other duties as instructed or assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with PPRM’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; providing feedback and input for performance reviews; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience
A high school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in business, retail management, or related field preferred; minimum of three to five years of retail or customer service experience specifically in a grocery setting with one to two years minimum holding leadership role preferred; experience with inventory management and ordering systems; strong knowledge of grocery industry trends and best practices; strong leadership and interpersonal skills; or any equivalent combination of formal training and/or experience which provided the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities thereof.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business data and effectively respond to the data. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from vendors, customers, employees, or others involved or associated in the general merchandise section function.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts relevant to the role such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
A valid driver’s license, health certificate or ability to obtain a certificate is required for this position.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with customers, staff, and management.
Customer Service: Dedication to providing exceptional customer service and resolving issues effectively ensuring “Customers matters most.”
Technical Skills: Familiarity POS systems and basic computer skills a plus.
Physical Demands of the Job

Working Conditions
