Position Title: Program Fitness Coordinator
Location: New London Recreation Center - New London, CT
Type: Part Time Plus (30-39 hours per week/includes full benefits) Start date, 6/16/25.

We specialize in managing state-of-the-art fitness and recreation centers for municipalities, hospitals, community colleges and foundations nationwide. Our 2,100 team members in 14 states are committed to excellence in fitness, wellness and recreation services that prioritize youth, family and senior programming.
The Program Fitness Coordinator is responsible for developing recreational programming for youth and adults including athletic leagues, summer camps and vacation day camps. They manage the daily operations of the staff and services related to delivering programming, while maintaining the highest level of safety and customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide leadership, direction and oversight of staff and activities in the pool and surrounding areas.
2. Ensure that pool’s and surrounding areas are clean, safe and well maintained.
3. Ensure that the pool, exercise equipment and emergency equipment is maintained and organized.
4. Coordinate all aquatic programs, and provide a schedule of pool activities for members.
5. Plan in-service workshops and certifications for instructors to support the maintenance of CEC’s required to keep certifications current.
6. Contribute to the marketing efforts of the center and aquatics programs both within the center and the community.
7. Coordinate, market, and oversee daily operation of all youth and adult recreational programs.
8. Provide regular feedback, write and conduct annual performance reviews.
9. Conduct regularly scheduled staff meetings.
10. Assist with department work schedules
11. Be proficient in all core business software as it relates to job duties and responsibilities.
12. Have a complete knowledge of the center, staff, services, fees and hours of operation.
13. Demonstrate complete knowledge of emergency and safety procedures including the use of facility paging system and confidence in calling EMS.
14. Participate in Company’s HIPAA and related training.
15. Must meet all safety requirements and certifications necessary to perform job duties (i.e., basic water rescue, infant CPR, etc.)
16. Work Manager on Duty shifts as assigned.
17. Work towards meeting departmental and organizational goals.
18. Develop program content and write recreation program schedule to reflect the needs of the members.
19. Contribute marketing ideas and determine pricing strategy as it relates to the promotion of the recreation programs.
20. Position will require nights and weekends
21. Provide Gym Supervision assuring that members follow rules and policies
22. Assist with program registration process, calling, and taking payments
23. Foster and cultivate opportunities to partner and market our programs within the community

Qualifications:
•Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
•Bachelors degree in Fitness/Recreation or related field preferred,
•Minimum of 2-3 year’s work related experience in a recreational or fitness environment.
•CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required. Current lifeguard certification required within first 90 days, WSI preferred
•Must be sports-minded and have the ability to lead and play many sports/activities.
•Must possess strong communication skills and the ability to work with members in a positive, service based manner.
•Must possess excellent customer service skills.
•The ability to be flexible and accommodating as it relates to scheduling of programs, working outdoors, standing for long periods of time and working in a noisy environment.
•The ability to manage multiple projects with high level of organizational skills and efficiency.
•Responding to Emergencies (RTE) certification required.
•Proficient computer skills.
