We are seeking an Assistant Controller to join our growing Accounting Team. This role will be responsible for the oversight of accounting operations for the business such as general ledger, month-end close, reconciliations, fixed asset accounting, lender reporting, and tax filings. This position also supports audits and monitors adherence to financial standards and regulations. The Assistant Controller will report to the Corporate Controller and manage a team of 3.

 

DAILY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but not limited to):

 

  • Research and analyze technical accounting issues
  • Establish and maintain documented internal controls, policies & procedures
  • Manage the month-end close process including monthly reconciliations and variance analysis
  • Assist in planning and coordinating quarterly and annual audits, as required
  • Support external tax partners for tax provision and support sales and use tax returns or other returns, as required
  • Assist in preparing the annual budget plan
  • Assist with the various audits
  • Streamline systems and processes and initiate corrective actions when necessary
  • Oversee the training and development of staff, including providing the staff with the necessary guidance and training to fulfill their job responsibilities and giving them regular feedback on their job performance
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by keeping current on changes in accounting standards (U.S. GAAP) and reporting practices
  • Other duties as assigned based on business need

 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, CHARACTERISTICS, & EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Strong leadership, communication and demonstrable business analysis and presentation skills
  • Hands on with attention to detail are critical
  • Keen organizational and problem-solving skills with ability to multi-task essential
  • High level knowledge of MS Excel
  • Ability to work with large amounts of complex data
  • Public accounting experience
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
  • CPA required
  • 10+ years of accounting experience with progressive responsibilities, with minimum 3 years of experience leading an accounting team
