Y Achievers Facilitator - Full Time

The full-time Y Achievers Facilitator will play a central role in delivering and expanding the Y Achievers Program in partnership with our school-based partners throughout the Philadelphia Area. The Achievers Program is a comprehensive initiative that offers personalized support in college and vocational readiness, mentorship, financial literacy, and social-emotional learning (SEL) to prepare students for lifelong success. Reporting to the Director of Y Achievers, the Facilitator will provide middle and/or high school teens with programming, resources, and leadership opportunities at the designated (multiple) sites. The position will implement curriculum, provide supervision, and serve as a liaison between the Director of Y Achievers and program sites including schools, community centers and GPY branches. This position may also work with and serve as an advisor for other Greater Philadelphia YMCA (GPY) teen programs. This position is responsible for launching Y Achievers programs at new locations designated by the Director, recruiting participants, and cultivating program partnerships. It also plays a key role in cultivating student leadership and promoting the YMCA’s core values through civic education experiences that emphasize ethics, responsible citizenship, and leadership. This position must ensure safety and adherence to all YMCA safety standards and rules. This position is ideal for those who want to use their creativity, passion, and enthusiasm with a particular focus on teen development.

What is needed for this job:
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A combination of coursework and professional experience may qualify as equivalency.
- Experience working with teens, particularly in urban or underserved communities.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate youth programming focused on college and career readiness, mentorship, financial literacy, and social-emotional development, using interactive and culturally responsive methods to engage middle and high school students.
- Experience facilitating group work with teens in form and informal learning environments.
- Demonstrated ability to foster inclusive, trauma-informed, and culturally relevant learning environments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with youth, families, and partners.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple cohorts and project timelines.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, and overnight conferences, in particular Y Achievers Summit in the summer.
- Reliable personal vehicle required; this role involves regular travel throughout the Philadelphia area.
- Passion for working with emerging technologies and deep commitment to the youth of Philadelphia.
- Proven ability to build bridges and maintain partnerships across nonprofit, educational, and corporate sectors.
- Background check and all required clearances upon conditional offer.
The responsibilities we will trust you with:
Program Facilitation
- Facilitate weekly Y Achievers programming across school partners and Greater Philadelphia YMCA branches
- Deliver dynamic, youth-centered sessions focused on college readiness, vocational exploration, mentorship, financial literacy, SEL and life skills.
- Guide students through leadership-building activities and real-world experiences that prepare them for academic and career success.
- Support the planning and execution of core events such as college tours, career bootcamps, financial literacy workshops, and mentoring sessions.
- Ensure student safety and supervision at all times, including during off-site experiences such as industry visits and leadership conferences.
- Assist in launching and supporting new Y Achievers sites to maintain consistency with YMCA program standards and student impact goals.
Student Recruitment & Community Outreach
- Recruitment
- Develop and implement strategies to recruit a diverse group of teens into the Y Achievers program.
- Conduct outreach through school partnerships, family engagement, and community presence to boost enrollment and awareness.
- Lead information sessions for students and families to communicate the program's benefits and expectations.
- Partnership Development
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with schools, educators, and local organizations to enhance program reach.
- Collaborate with professionals and mentors from the workforce and higher education sectors to offer engaging student experiences.
- Work cross-functionally with YMCA departments and external partners to align programming with shared youth development goals.
- Student Engagement & Mentorship
- Foster a safe and welcoming space for teens to build confidence, explore career and academic paths, and develop essential life skills.
- Provide mentorship and guidance tailored to each student’s goals and circumstances.
- Promote cultural humility, inclusiveness, and respect in all student interactions.
- Offer ongoing feedback and celebrate student progress and achievements.
- Support YMCA staff in teen engagement efforts through consultation and collaboration.
- Curriculum Implementation
- Deliver and adapt the Y Achievers curriculum to meet the diverse needs of student cohorts.
- Integrate interactive lessons on professional communication, financial literacy, leadership, and social etiquette.
- Ensure programming supports equity, accessibility, and real-world relevance.
- Coordinate with program leadership to bring in guest speakers, alumni, and community leaders for enrichment sessions.
- Administrative & Program Support
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, participation, outcomes, and feedback to inform continuous program improvement.
- Manage logistics for field trips, events, and regular program sessions, including registration and preparation.
- Assist with outcome tracking and evaluation in coordination with program leadership.
- Participate in team meetings, cross-functional projects, and staff training to support alignment and operational excellence.
- Additional Duties
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned to support the success and sustainability of the Y Achievers and broader NextGen Leadership programs.
