Wellness Supervisor - Full Time

The Wellness Supervisor is expected to lead a staff team to coach and assist members in developing a healthy lifestyle and in meeting their wellness goals; assist in hiring, training, scheduling and supervising Wellness Center staff; ensure that YMCA Health and Wellness programs are delivered in accordance with YMCA and other applicable best practices; provide member service and counsel in the appropriate use of fitness center equipment and services; provide wellness consultations and encourage participation in member wellness incentive programs; ensure that facilities and services are responsive to member needs.

What is needed for this job:
- College degree in related field preferred, or 21 years of age with 2 years of experience and national certification in fitness and strength training and/or Group Exercise upon hire.
- Exhibit strong leadership skills; possess a passion for member service, building and maintaining a culture of member service excellence.
The responsibilities we will trust you with:
- Assist with the operation and supervision of wellness center, staff and programs to ensure a friendly and encouraging environment for members in the usage of fitness and wellness programs and services.
- Learn member names and encourage regular exercise routines and record keeping.
- Cultivate and develop relationships and follow up with telephone calls, emails, correspondence, etc. to assist the member in achieving their wellness objectives as required.
- Maintain knowledge of wellness trends, participate in training and development.
- Provide guidance in equipment usage, and if appropriate, direct members to qualified staff for personalized fitness programs and personal training.
- Provide consistent support to all members using the facility.
- Provide wellness consultations and administer other health and wellness programs as required.
- Ensure facility cleanliness and safety. Clean and maintain equipment.
- Enforce wellness center policies and age restrictions. Monitor member use of equipment and weights.
- Ensure member safety and protect property.
- Maintain knowledge of emergency and safety procedures, provide care in an emergency, document all incidents/accidents on the appropriate forms.
- Follow up with members to schedule consultations and encourage regular exercise.
- Participate in staff meetings and trainings as required.
- Set an example of healthy living and personal fitness.
- Participate in providing tours to prospective members if required.
- Survey and maintain locker rooms to ensure neatness, cleanliness and proper supplies if required.
- Document and report equipment maintenance needs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
