HEM - Body Shop (JO 23-25)
Essential Functions for the Position:
Under the general supervision of the repair shop foreperson and/or the section lead person, participate in the inspection,
maintenance, repair, fabrication, welding, wood work, fiberglass, and rehabilitation of vehicle structural assemblies,
vehicle bodies, chassis and other company equipment. Using skills with hand tools and equipment, and working
knowledge of metals and body repair supplies, plan and perform the work required to repair body damage due to
accident, corrosion, metal fatigue, etc.
Special Knowledge & Skills:
1. Must be able to read and understand technical publications, blueprints, safety data sheet publications, and
operational schematics related to transit and heavy‑duty vehicles.
2. Must be able to work with preplanned schedules and meet production/efficiency levels consistent with Company and
industry standards.
3. Must have demonstrated skills in precision measuring and operational troubleshooting.
4. Must be familiar with current industry body repair practices and methods for operating and maintaining mechanical,
pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment as applied to heavy‑duty transit vehicles.
5. Must be knowledgeable and current on new operational systems and modifications as announced by the Company,
manufacturers, and City, State and Federal governments; and must be familiar with current safety procedures and
methods.
6. Must possess ability to record accurate information as it relates to the activities each mechanic is assigned, and the
ability to utilize the computerized Maintenance Management System (MMS).
7. Must possess knowledge of applicable tools and equipment and maintain an adequate assortment of personal hand
tools specific to the trade.
8. Must be familiar with current safety equipment and procedures.
9. Experience with spraying water‑based paints is preferred.
10. Must have experience with automotive painting.
Education, Training & Experience:
1. Must be high school or trade school graduate.
2. Must have minimum of two (2) years' practical experience in the body repair field.
3. Current ASE Certifications in Collision Repair and Refinish is preferred.
Other Job Requirement & Conditions:
1. Must have excellent work performance and attendance records.
2. Must have valid Hawaii State driver's license with clean traffic abstract and must be able to pass State of Hawaii
D.O.T. driving requirements for a "Type B" commercial driver's license.
3. Must meet or be able to meet all present and future license and certification requirements as may be required by City,
State or Federal governments.
4. Must pass Company‑administered written and oral examinations.
5. Must be able to meet standard physical requirements and pass Company‑sponsored medical examination and drug
screening.
6. Must be willing and able to work various shifts, overtime as directed, holiday duty as required, and assume days‑off as
assigned.
