PURPOSE/ROLE: Oceanit is seeking a highly motivated and creative problem solver to assist in the sourcing, development and testing of products and systems to support projects, new business and technology pursuits. This is a part-time (30 hours/week) position with potential for full-time.
THE VALUE YOU DELIVER:
- Works with technical teams to develop and test protective coatings, abrasive blasting equipment, and other prototypes for the industrial field environment.
- Sources machine shops and facilities to build custom equipment.
- Receives and installs custom equipment
- Tests effectiveness and efficiency of equipment and experimental materials and coatings.
- Liaisons between vendors and clients.
- Manages and coordinates product delivery (inventory management, package and handling, and shipping coordination)
- Has deep knowledge and experience in applying protective coatings, including the ability to use wet and dry film gauges, effective mixing of coatings according to product data sheets, experience utilizing both airless and conventional spray methods, and knowledge of various SSPC and NACE standards for surface preparation.
- Offers technical feedback to technical team in order to inform the development of new products.
- Maintains a commitment to executing projects safely, to a high quality standard, and to exercise good professional judgement when working on-site. Responsible for ensuring compliance with safety standards and protocols, including safety training, reporting/documentation and equipment/supply maintenance.
- Shows willingness to learn new techniques and use/install new equipment, as well as the ability to quickly adapt based on job availability.
THE EXPERTISE WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- MUST have 1-3 years of working experience in applying protective coatings and abrasive blasting substrates in an industrial setting.
- Knowledge of all gauges required for use per coating specifications.
- NACE 2 certification is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with machine tools and operation of industrial equipment (overhead crane, forklift), highly preferred.
- Broad knowledge of construction materials and techniques preferred.
- Experience with oil and gas construction or upstream operations is a plus. Experience with heat exchangers/pumps/large equipment, preferred.
- Industrial and advanced manufacturing experience is a plus.
- History of leadership in construction or manufacturing preferred.
- Must be able to travel overnight to customer sites each week if necessary including occasional weekend travel.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs while moving and storing received chemicals and equipment.
- High School Education, GED, vocational training or equivalent experience.
