A Journeyman Mechanic for Oak Harbor must have more than 2 years of mechanical experience. They must be able to complete 80 plus tasks without supervision from our list of “mechanical skills checklist”.
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
- Strong technical knowledge of diesel engines, components, fuel, and electronic systems.
- Preferred knowledge of diesel medium-duty and heavy-duty trucks, including brands such as Volvo, Kenworth, International, and Freightliner.
- Possess physical strength and stamina to perform various tasks including lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, stooping, and climbing.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Hold a valid ID or driver’s license.
- Minimum of 2 year’s experience in mechanical repairs and diagnostic on heavy-duty and medium-duty equipment for a commercial fleet.
- Proficiency in computer skills including Windows and diagnostic software.
- Ability to meet DOT standards for brake and annual inspection certifications.
- Experience in the repair of dry vans, structure, doors, interiors, exteriors, ceilings, and roofs is not required but preferred.
- ASE or manufactures certification is a plus.
- Capability to read and understand technical service manuals, repair orders, labels, and gauges.
- Familiarity with DOT Out-of-service criteria.
- EPA HVAC Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Certification preferred.
- Basic welding skills (oxy/acetylene, MIG, and ARC) desirable.
- Possession of a CDL license is beneficial.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and address driver’s written reports and verbal complaints regarding equipment issues.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace, and perform all necessary repairs on company-owned equipment.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on company owned equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Execute repairs in accordance with industry standards, ensuring safety and efficiency.
- Thoroughly document all repair orders and maintain accountability for used parts.
- Utilize TMT fleet maintenance software to track assigned repairs efficiently.
- Uphold a safe and clean work environment, adhering to workplace safety rules and regulations.
