Section 1 – Position Summary
The Mechanic’s Assistant (Tech Services) assists the mechanics and welders in the maintenance, diagnosing, repairing, installing, testing, and calibration of water, wastewater and solid waste related mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. This position will support multiple facilities with varying processes, equipment and functional requirements. This position is given specific instruction, and work is performed under direct supervision. |

This position requires continuous physical exertion often of a strenuous nature. Lifts or pulls/pushes 50 pounds on a daily basis and up to 100 pounds on a weekly basis in order to repair and service various mechanical components, while using various hand tools and equipment.
Working conditions include exposure to high voltage electricity, frequent exposure to inclement weather, wastewater, mechanical, electrical, chemical, and confined space hazards with offensive fumes, excessive noise, heavy traffic, and animals, snakes, and poisonous insects.
Hand and power tools including pneumatic equipment, impact drills, saws, emergency lighting equipment and safety equipment.
May be required to comply with requirements as specified in applicable regulations for personal protective equipment, including clearance for use of respiratory protection and other associated equipment. Also operates a company vehicle on a daily basis.
Will be required to work hours other than regular schedule such as short notice/unscheduled overtime, nights, weekends, holidays, on-call, and rotating shifts.
