Fundraising and Development Intern - Hope Gala Support

The evening offers a unique opportunity for sponsors and supporters to connect with like-minded changemakers and celebrate their collective impact. The event features inspiring stories, impactful presentations, and a silent auction.
Position Summary:
The Development and Fundraising Intern will play a key role in supporting the Hope Gala committee's fundraising efforts. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in event fundraising, donor cultivation, and project management within a dynamic and mission-driven environment. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on relationship-building, enjoys the challenge of sales and sponsorships, and is highly detail-oriented. The ideal candidate is persistent, not afraid to hear “no,” and willing to keep pushing forward to secure high-value auction donations and sponsorships.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Auction Item Acquisition:
- Research and identify potential auction items (experiences, travel packages, unique items) that align with the interests of NCMEC's donor base.
- Contact businesses, organizations, and individuals to solicit auction item donations.
- Develop compelling donation request letters and proposals to engage potential donors and sponsors.
- Track and follow up on all requests, ensuring proper stewardship and recognition of donors.
- Hope Gala Committee Support:
- Work closely with the Hope Gala Committee to execute creative fundraising ideas.
- Maintain an organized tracking system for auction items, sponsor commitments, and donor communications.
- Assist in the design and creation of marketing materials and promotional assets for the event.
- Help manage sponsor and donor acknowledgment efforts, ensuring proper branding and recognition at the event.
- Administrative Support:
- Assist with data entry and record-keeping.
- Help prepare presentations and reports for the Hope Gala committee.
- Provide general administrative support as needed.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Sales and Persuasion: Confident and persuasive communication skills with the ability to secure donations and build relationships with potential donors.
- Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Persistence: A "can-do" attitude and the ability to persevere through challenges and overcome objections.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively with the Hope Gala committee and NCMEC staff.
- Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Passion for NCMEC's Mission: A genuine interest in supporting NCMEC's work to protect children.
Education and Experience:
- Completed at least (2) years at an accredited college or university.
- Academic focus on sales, marketing, communications, or a similar field.
- Experience with fundraising or event planning is a plus.
