LOCATION:                                       Alexandria, Virginia (Remote)

TRAVEL REQUIREMENT

Less than 10%

 

HOURS and SCHEDULE

Monday – Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm (37.5 hours within five (5) days per week); unless otherwise required or approved by management.

 

REPORTS TO

This position reports to the Director, Project Management Office (PMO).

 

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

None

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The position Senior Project Manager will have a key role in the management and delivery of projects as they progress through the NCMEC software development lifecycle. This position is a key communicator in NCMECs SDLC and is responsible for collaborating with all ranges of staff including engineers, product owners, program managers, subject matter experts and senior leadership. This individual coordinates people and processes to ensure customer satisfaction, and that projects are orchestrated in a consistent manner with NCMEC’s mission, commitments and goals.

 

 

LICENSING AND CERTIFICATION:

  • At least one of the following:
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
  • Certified Product Owner (CSPO)
  • SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (PO/PM)

 

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with stakeholders to develop the scope, goals, deliverables, required resources, and timing for NCMEC software products Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution
  • Manage various software development products throughout their lifecycles
  • Track and report on project milestones and provide status reports on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress
  • Provide tactical agile product delivery on projects while collaborating with the NCMEC engineering team, external engineering teams, product support teams and customers
  • Provide project guidance to internal and external development teams to ensure project success
  • Manage the success of assigned products and develop requirements for future product releases
  • Meet with project team members to identify and resolve issues
  • Produce reports on qualitative and quantitative benchmarks to measure and evaluate product goal achievement

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle models as well as solid knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment
  • Basic competence in at least one programming language (e.g. Java, C Sharp, JavaScript, Python, SQL, etc.)
  • A proven track record of successfully implementing software or web development projects using Agile methodologies including experience as a Project Manager managing complex projects in a development environment with multi-functional teams
  • Experience with project management tools such as JIRA and document management systems such as Confluence
  • Experience acting as the communication hub between technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience working in an Agile methodology and frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and experience interacting with both business and IT individuals at all levels including the executive level
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate effectively with end users and technical experts
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of business needs with the ability to establish/maintain high level of customer trust and confidence
  • Adaptability, flexibility and ability to work as part of a team or in an individual capacity
  • Ability to handle and maintain the integrity and confidentiality of highly sensitive material and information
  • Manage the success of assigned products and develop requirements for future product releases.
  • Work with external third parties to assess partnerships and opportunities.
  • Produce reports on qualitative and quantitative benchmarks to measure and evaluate product goal achievement.
  • Work on special projects or prototypes or proof of concepts as assigned by the Technology and Business Managers.
  • Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of highly sensitive material and information.

 

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience in an agile environment.
