Job Summary

Oversees the work of a team of buyers or purchasing clerks who purchase goods or services, both direct and indirect.

Job Duties

  • Ensure all purchases adhere to established policies and procedures
  • Prepare and deliver purchase orders or requisitions, place orders with vendors and follow up to ensure delivery, resolve issues or concerns and verify invoices in order to approve payment
  • Coordinate procurement strategy and direct material forecasts
  • Maintain records of completed orders or payments
  • Manage supplier relationships and performance records (supplier scorecards)
  • Manage spending and identify material cost out opportunities
  • Review and negotiate contracts (indirect services and direct materials)
  • Complete all necessary documents fully and accurately
  • Adhere to 5S standards (e.g., maintain cleanliness of work area, etc.)
  • Follow all Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Experience and Education

  • Knowledge of the field's policies, procedures and practices
  • Lead and direct the work of other employees
  • Typically have some authority for personnel decisions related to hiring, performance, or disciplinary actions
  • Typically require a master's degree and/or 5-10 years of experience
  • Experience with Global supply chains
