Rooms Inspector

Summary

 

Responsibilities include the daily function of the housekeeping department - assigning housekeeping boards, checking room status, inspecting clean rooms for sale, effectively communicating with the front desk. 

 

Essential Functions

 

  • Serves as a member of the Leadership Team, and works with other management personnel to establish and implement hotel service standards to achieve maximum profitability and efficiency.
  • Conducts oneself as a positive role model and example to staff.
  • Maintains a “can do” and “guest first” attitude at all times.
  • Arrives at work in a timely fashion and in accordance with the posted schedule.
  • Abides by established uniform guidelines.
  • Practices efficient and effective procedures.
  • Reads and understands English to comply with function directions.
  • Works as a member of the overall hotel team to ensure that each guest has an experience that exceeds their expectations.
  • Provides training; including safety training sand standard operation procedures to all housekeeping personnel as directed by management.
  • Supervises the work activities of the housekeeping staff under the direction of the Director of Housekeeping/Housekeeping Supervisor.  
  • Assists management staff of hotel in assuring housekeeping department staff is practicing efficient and effective procedures.
  • Reports any maintenance repairs to maintenance staff; records repair information in maintenance log, and follows up to ensure the work has been completed.
  • Addresses guest complaints regarding cleanliness or service.  Brings complaints to the attention of the Director of Housekeeping and the appropriate associate.
  • Resolves complaints to the satisfaction of the guest.
  • Inspects all completed guest rooms for compliance with brand standards. 
  • Assures requests are made in a timely manner.
  • Knowledgeable on PMS as it pertains to functions of the housekeeping department.
  • Reviews systems daily; finds and corrects any mistakes or discrepancies.
  • Receives supplies to maintain appropriate inventory levels for the market and packages.
  • Coordinates with front desk team daily to ensure guests special requests are met.
  • Works with housekeeping staff to meet or exceed benchmarked scores as it pertains to housekeeping.
  • Properly uses incentive programs for housekeeping department.
  • Takes control of lost and found as appropriate.
  • Takes the responsibilities of housekeeping attendant, laundry, or houseman when necessary.
  • All other duties assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.  The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather), cold (non-weather); heat (non-weather), and risk of electrical shock.  The employee is subject to a fast paced working environment.

 

The noise level in the work environment is moderate.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:           Two years of college or vocational training or 2 years hotel experience

 

Language Ability:                    Ability to reach and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences and memos; Ability to write simple correspondences

 

Math Ability:                            Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interests, and percentages; Intermediate to advanced skills are used often including basic math, conversions, and measurements such as weight, volume, and pressure

 

Reasoning Ability:                   Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or chart/diagram form; Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations
