Mfg Indirect - Molding - Group Leader

Position Description/Responsibilities:

This position is responsible is responsible for overseeing the production activities of a designated team within the medical device industry. This role ensures that manufacturing processes are efficient, compliant with regulatory standards, and meet quality and production targets. The Group Leader will lead and mentor team members, manage resources, and support continuous improvement initiatives. Will also provide support and assistance to other departments as necessary. Position Authority:

Under Molding Supervisor supervision, assign and prioritize tasks for team members to ensure production goals are achieved. Approve overtime and shift changes within the team to meet production demands. Conduct performance evaluations and make recommendations for promotions, rewards, or disciplinary actions. Identify and escalate significant production or quality issues to the Manufacturing Manager. Implement and enforce safety protocols and regulatory compliance within the team.

Authorize procurement of necessary tools, equipment, and supplies for the team's operations. Lead and participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving activities for production issues. Represent the team in cross-functional meetings and collaborate with other departments to resolve issues and improve processes.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepares shifts reports using daily production sheets and verifies physical amounts of shift reports.
  • Register shift attendance.
  • Provides data (events, documents) for the application of discipline rules (Refer to Employee Manual) and all dress code procedures. (Refer to MT-001).
  • Maintains molding data sheet file.
  • Ensures Cell leaders provide training for new hires and also retraining process during the year for any regular employee shift.
  • Assures all employees including new hires understand required processes.
  • Coordinates duties of production operators engaged in molding, printing and assembly areas.
  • Coordinates duties based on production schedules reviews and work orders, according to order priorities.
  • Asures Cell Leaders assigns breaks to employees correctly.
  • Assures Line Clearance is performed before a molding machine start up from Process Supervisor and/or Process Technician.
  • Makes machine checks periodically during shift.
  • Documents any findings whether the product is acceptable or has a defect.
  • Informs the Molding Supervisor of any defect found.
  • Prepares Process Quality Charts Form when based of periodical checks.
  • Revises product specification sheets on machine assuring all required manufacturing specifications is correct. These includes but not limited to correct labels, correct packing material in used and labeled properly, correct carton is used and that any special customer checks requirements are performed using the proper form.
  • Checks the devised parameter sheets on daily basis. If finding occur of setting out of range, notifies the Molding Supervisor.
  • Insures all operators working areas are organized and clean.
  • Checks individual operator worksheets to make sure they are filled out correctly. Production Report (SOP-005-01) Supports employees when problems occur including questions they may have on production they are working.
  • Prepares Shift Report using daily production sheets and verifies physical amounts of shift. Attach with the report the Production report of the production operators.
  • Ensures the Shift report is completed and data is posted for the shift under his/her responsibility on QAD system. in a timely manner.
  • Prepares Shift Reconciliation Form out of daily production sheets at end of shift.
  • Keeps and follow up Company Security Rules.
  • Ensures basic safety rules are followed by all employees under his/her areas of responsibility.
  • Follow all standard procedures and guidelines established in Viant P.R.
  • Assures products are made in top quality standards by following up on employees performance.
  • Complies with molding specifications according to customer requirements.
  • Inform the Manufacturing Supervisor of any defect found.
  • Communicates to Molding Supervisor any production matters and makes recommendations.
  • Follows any job related duties as assigned by the Molding Supervisor or Operations Manager.

 

Position requirements:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or Associate Degree preferable.

Job Experience:

  • One year as Cell Leader or the equivalent of 2 years of experience as Molding Operator. 

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

•Understanding of English language, arithmetic skills, good trainer and willing to work on rotating shifts.

•Effective communication
