In This Role, You Will…
Provide support and services in a range of areas, including performance management, employee relations, employee development, compensation, recruiting, engagement, and change management. You will interpret and apply Human Resources policies and procedures and align HR programs with the strategic and operational goals of the organization. As the Human Resources Generalist I, you will be assigned to work primarily with specific group(s) of employees and will partner with senior management for day-to-day needs.
Responsibilities:
- Acts as a resource for approximately 500 employees and managers. Coordinates with HR team members to provide guidance in all areas of HR.
- Partners with employees and management to provide policy interpretation and guidance. Performs regular review of policies and recommends updates and development as needed.
- Assists in management of HRIS data, including employee information, organizational setup, and reporting.
- Manages annual performance evaluation process and provides guidance to all levels of management.
- Approves and writes performance documents, including performance improvement and coaching documentation.
- Conducts employee interviews and reviews. Provides documentation for investigations and supports HR Manager in employee relations matters.
- Communicates directly with employees and management about employment status decisions.
- Administers compensation plans. Recommends and approves employee compensation decisions including promotions, demotions, merit increases, job offers, etc.
- Supports employees and HR department with benefits and FMLA/state leave programs. Processes and maintains records for approved leaves via third-party leave administration system.
- Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
- Maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs.
- Maintains employee confidence and protects operations by keeping personnel data confidential.
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by following policies and procedures.
- Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other departments in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.
- Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the workplace.
- Reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor as requested or according to an established schedule. Compiles information as necessary or as directed and provides data to appropriate company personnel.
- May perform additional functions depending on market demand and staffing in order to provide consistent quality customer service.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of related experience.
- Working knowledge of HR laws and regulations, including but not limited to: protected leaves of absence, ADA, EEO, and other applicable federal and state employment laws.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and coaching skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and to work independently.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, flexibility, initiative, and commitment in an environment of rapid change.
- Strong computer skills using MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint).
- HRIS experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience conducting employee investigations and performance management.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty (20) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
