SUMMARY
The Automation Engineer maximizes efficiency by analyzing the operation of machines and equipment, layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization relative to the implementation of automation and robotics for the manufacture of all types of aerospace fasteners and specialty products, taking in to account quality and production standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Drive Automation Improvements and Implementation to improve Operator Safety, Machine Efficiency, and Plant Capacities.
- Development and validation of new automation production equipment and production support equipment.
- Responsible for the design, specifying, budget preparation, planning and scheduling, procurement, installation and commissioning of capital projects
- Design, development and testing of various automation systems for new and existing equipment.
- Documentation of automation systems utilizing computer assisted design applications and programs.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
- Focuses on and documents cost reduction initiatives for design implementation, maintenance and repair work.
- Ensures systems meet safety, quality and production rate requirements.
- Assists in the research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment.
- Coordinates the analysis and tests and/or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
- Coordinates product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
- Able to perform tool design (fixtures) with use of computer assisted design applications and programs.
- Represents Factory/Department manufacturing on cross-functional teams, safety committees or other in-house committees.
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan, organize, and accomplish set goals and objectives.
- Works under limited supervision with a certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

- Implements and suggests waste elimination initiatives specifically related to the function and department such as EMS and recycling opportunities to elimination of production waste

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education and/or Experience
- B.S. Degree in Automation, Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent combination of education and /or experience.
- A minimum of 1 to 3 years Automation Engineering experience with industrial controls.
- Programming experience with PLC’s, HMI’s and VFD’s
- Working knowledge of relevant engineering applications.
- Proficient in Computer assisted design (CAD).
- Proficient in Computer assisted design (CAD).
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, program documentation, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract concrete variables.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Access and Computer assisted design (CAD) proficiency.
