SUMMARY
The Centerless Grinder Machinist maximizes efficiency through the process of set-ups and operates 3 or more precision grinding machines for the manufacture of all types of grind lot parts for new or revised products. Process methods are followed in accordance to product specifications and quality standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Sets up and operates precision grinding equipment to produce machined parts according to blueprints, router package specifications and/or special instructions.
- Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work-piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Starts and observes on-going machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
- Verifies conformance of finished work-piece to specifications.
- Prepares and verifies production machine operations on trial run to ensure accuracy of machine settings.
- Selects tooling and fixtures pertaining to the grinding operation.
- Checks tooling and reworks as needed to keep machine running.
- Inspects parts for quality and appropriate tolerance using measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and comparators.
- Calculates and determines proper feed and speed combinations. May true and shape grinding and regulating wheels as required.
- Records the piece count and run time of the production times.
- Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly.
- Checks parts for conformance to specifications using micrometers, calipers and gauges and perform SPC
- Recognizes and remedies minor machine malfunctioning or cutting action of tools. Major discrepancies are reported to supervisor.
- Complete rebuilding of precision machine tools and equipment.
- Provide necessary information to Manufacturing team, Engineering Team or others to document procedures and drawings.
- Identifies, disassembles and determines corrective action required to repair work or broken parts.
- Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.
- Represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams.
- Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
- Works directly with all levels in the organization including, management/supervision on continuous improvement efforts regarding machines, components and manufacturing systems.
- Works under general supervision with a certain degree of latitude as required.
- Performs record keeping, data entry, housekeeping, and follows all safety regulations.
- Adheres to all company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, practices, and procedures.
- Responsible for complying with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local, and State government, LISI Aerospace, and HSE Procedures.
- Responsibility for complying with ISO 14001standards, aspects, directives and impact as related to the HSE policy commitments.
- Responsible for attending all training provided and for adhering to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements and safe operating procedures at all times.
- Required to identify and alert any known or suspected nonconformance for all company procedures or legal requirements to management’s attention immediately.
- Continually seek opportunities to improve our HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting our results.
- Implements and suggests waste elimination initiatives specifically related to the function and department such as EMS and recycling opportunities to elimination of production waste
- Works under general supervision with a limited degree of creativity and latitude is required.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Working experience CL Grinder type of manufacturing procedures
- Proficient in blueprints interpretation, key process parameters and SPC data acquisition.
- A minimum of 3-5 years related industrial machine shop experience in operation equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read, comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to perform simple written instructions, correspondence or memos. Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to employees of the organization
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Knowledge of basic shop math. Ability to calculate in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units and weight measurement, volume, and distance
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems by data collection, establish facts and follow instructions in written and basic diagram formats. Ability to multi-task variety of problem solving and deal with several internal and external situations.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of basic computer skills and departmental applications: SPC & Shop Floor System.
