Youth Partner - Connections Community Counseling
Position Summary
Lifeline is hiring a Youth Partner to support our growing team. You will be responsible for helping homeless and runaway youth self-advocate, and to better understand their mental health needs and how counseling services can help. The Youth Partner provides counseling, skill support and resources to help youth engage with therapy services. Most Youth Partner services will take place at community locations such as client's current living environment, school or other community locations.
This is a direct service role that will help our team support vulnerable youth in reaching their goals!
We're looking for a candidate who has personal experience with homelessness during a period of time when you were under 21 years of age. This could include being without a home, living in a shelter, in transitional housing through foster care, or couch-surfing. This role requires this lived experience to build trust with youth to help them utilize the services in our program.
Required Qualifications
- Personal experience with homelessness before the age of 21.
- Ability to connect with adolescents and young adults while maintaining effective professional boundaries.
- Available 2-3 evenings per week until 7 PM (will start later on these days)
- Available to meet youth in their home or other community locations.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Works with youth to identify and overcome barriers to therapy participation.
- Provides ongoing skill support and case management services via home visits and community settings, during the day and early evening.
- Collaborates with Therapists and Peer Support Partners to meet client needs.
- Completes clinical documentation as required by Medi-Cal and Behavioral Health Services contract. Meets service delivery standards as determined by the contract.
- Performs outreach activities to educate homeless youth about our program and supports.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
Schedule/Compensation
- Part Time - nonexempt position
- M-F 5 hour shifts. Available 2-3 evenings to offer sessions until 7 PM.
- $20-$22/hour. Salary will commensurate with experience and education. Differential pay offered for bilingual skills. EEO.
Additional Requirement
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation with a good driving record.
- Willing to use own, properly insured, reliable vehicle for the job (mileage reimbursed).
- Employment subject to clearances, including background finger printing checks, driving record, tuberculosis testing, and drug testing.
