The Impact You Will Make
The person hired for the position of Senior Analytical Scientist will conduct trace-level analytical testing of pharmaceutical products, drug device combination products, and materials to support current products, new product development projects, and Analytical Services. The Senior Analytical Scientist will use gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry and/or liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry for quantitative analysis and identification of unknown compounds in samples. The Senior Analytical Scientist will work with chromatographic data systems, electronic laboratory notebooks, and laboratory information management systems. The Senior Analytical Scientist may perform testing for stability and product understanding, develop methods and conduct method validations.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensure world-class safety within the laboratory and Kindeva Headquarters Facility
- Conduct analyses in adherence to SOPs
- Perform instrumental analyses using GC/MS and/or LC/MS instrumentation
- Use chromatography data acquisition systems (Empower, MassHunter, Chromeleon)
- Use electronic laboratory notebook and LIMS system to document and archive analytical results in compliance with GMP
- Use mass spectral libraries and knowledge of chemical fragmentation mechanisms to assist in identification of unknown chemical species
- Use critical thinking and problem-solving skills; including graphing of data and basic use and understanding of statistics
- Be able to multitask and remain flexible to changing project priorities
- Write technical documents including test methods, protocols, and reports
- Review and update lab documentation such as SOPs, worksheets, methods and specifications to reflect current processes
- Perform and support the qualification, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory equipment
- Work well in both team and individual environments
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university + 6 years of analytical testing experience, OR Master's degree + 3 years of analytical testing experience, OR PhD + 2 years of analytical testing experience
- Basic understanding of GMP/GLP
- Minimum 2 years of experience with GC/MS and/or LC/MS
- Experience with mass spectral interpretation and identification of unknowns
Preferred
- Testing experience within the pharmaceutical industry
- Familiar with Empower, MassHunter, or similar chromatography data acquisition system
- Familiar with LIMS systems
- Demonstrated technical writing and data analysis skills
