KDS is seeking an experienced Senior Cybersecurity Operations Manager to lead and oversee our cyber defense operations supporting federal government clients. The ideal candidate will bring strategic leadership, technical expertise, and operational experience in managing complex cybersecurity operations centers. 

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include but are not limited to:

  • The Senior Cybersecurity Operations Manager will lead and manage comprehensive cyber defense operations. Key responsibilities include:
  • Direct the day-to-day operations of the Security Operations Center (SOC)
  • Accountable for meeting or exceeding contractual SLAs
  • Oversee the incident response process
  • Develop and implement cybersecurity strategies and roadmaps
  • Lead incident response activities and major security events
  • Manage security monitoring and detection capabilities
  • Oversee threat hunting and vulnerability management programs
  • Direct security tool deployment and optimization
  • Lead team of security analysts and engineers
  • Establish and maintain security metrics and reporting
  • Coordinate with stakeholders on security initiatives
  • Manage security budget and resource allocation
  • Develop and maintain security policies and procedures
  • Lead continuous improvement of security operations
  • Ensure compliance with security requirements
  • Provide executive-level briefings on security posture
  • Manage vendor relationships and security services

Education and Experience:
Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity operations
  • 5+ years of management experience in security operations
  • Current security certifications (CISSP, CISM, or equivalent)
  • Experience managing federal government security operations

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to make quick decisions under pressure
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  •  Expert knowledge of cyber defense operations
  •  Strong understanding of threat landscape and TTPs
  •  Experience with security tools and technologies
  • Expertise in incident response management
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellence in stakeholder communication
  • Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance
  • Experience with security automation and orchestration
  • Proficiency in risk management
  • Experience with security metrics and reporting
  • Knowledge of cloud security operations
  • Understanding of zero trust architectures
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities

Desired Skills and Competencies:

  • Master's degree in relevant field
  • Additional security certifications (CCISO, CGEIT)
  • Experience with classified systems
  • Knowledge of AI/ML in security operations
  • Experience with threat intelligence platforms
  • Expertise in security architecture
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps practices
  • Experience with security orchestration platforms
  • Background in digital forensics
  • Experience with red team/blue team operations
  • Knowledge of emerging security technologies
  • Experience with security compliance automation
  • Familiarity with privacy requirements
  • Published works in cybersecurity
  • Public speaking experience
