Cybersecurity Trainer

Koniag Data Solutions (KDS), a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a skilled and dynamic Cybersecurity Trainer to develop and deliver comprehensive cybersecurity training programs for our government clients. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with excellent instructional abilities to effectively communicate complex security concepts to diverse audiences.
Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include but are not limited to:
- The Cybersecurity Trainer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and delivering cybersecurity training programs while keeping current with the latest security threats and defense strategies. Key responsibilities include:
- Report directly to the Cybersecurity Program Manager to assist in various programmatic and contractual tasks.
- Design and develop comprehensive cybersecurity training curricula and materials
- Deliver engaging training sessions to various audiences (technical and non-technical)
- Create awareness campaigns on security best practices and emerging threats.
- Assess training effectiveness and adapt programs accordingly.
- Conduct in-person and virtual training sessions on various cybersecurity topics
- Create and maintain training documentation and user guides
- Assess training effectiveness and participant comprehension
- Develop and administer practical exercises and simulations
- Keep training content current with evolving cyber threats and security practices
- Collaborate with security teams to identify training needs and gaps
- Provide post-training support and resources
- Track and report on training metrics and outcomes
- Customize training approaches for different audience levels and learning styles
Education and Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity or information security
- 3+ years of experience in training or educational role
- Current security certifications (CompTIA Security+, CEH, or equivalent)
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Must be detail oriented
- Stay current with evolving cybersecurity threats and training methodologies
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Deep knowledge of cybersecurity principles, best practices, and current threats
- Strong presentation and public speaking abilities
- Experience with learning management systems (LMS)
- Proficiency in creating training materials and documentation
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Experience with hands-on security tools and technologies
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks (NIST, CMMC, etc.)
- Strong project management and organizational skills
Desired Skills and Competencies:
- Advanced security certifications (CISSP, CISM, etc.)
- Experience in government or military training environments
- Knowledge of classified information handling procedures
- Familiar with virtual training platforms and technologies
- Experience with cyber range environments
- Multi-language capabilities
- Prior experience in incident response or security operations
- Instructional Design certifications
- Experience with gamification in training
