Koniag Data Solutions (KDS), a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an experienced Privacy Specialist to support privacy program implementation and compliance for our federal government clients. The ideal candidate will bring comprehensive knowledge of privacy regulations, requirements, and best practices, with the ability to translate complex privacy requirements into practical solutions. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring privacy requirements are met while supporting mission objectives. They will work closely with various stakeholders to implement effective privacy controls and maintain compliance with federal privacy requirements.

This role offers opportunities to shape privacy programs and make significant contributions to protecting sensitive government data through the implementation of privacy best practices and controls.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include but are not limited to:

  • The Privacy Specialist will support privacy program development and implementation. Key responsibilities include:
  • Develop and implement privacy policies and procedures.
  • Conduct privacy impact assessments for new systems and processes.
  • Monitor compliance with privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA)
  • Review data collection practices and ensure proper consent mechanisms.
  • Provide guidance on privacy-by-design principles in system development.
  • Respond to privacy-related inquiries and incidents.
  • Collaborate with security teams to ensure data protection measures.
  • Support privacy compliance activities
  • Perform privacy risk assessments
  • Monitor privacy program effectiveness
  • Maintain privacy documentation
  • Support privacy audits and assessments
  • Support privacy reporting requirements

Education and Experience:
Required:

  • Degree in Privacy, Information Security, Law, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in privacy or related field
  • Experience with federal privacy requirements
  • Current privacy certification (CIPP, CIPM, or equivalent)
  • Experience with privacy program implementation

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of privacy laws and regulations
  • Understanding of data protection principles and practices
  • Analytical skills for conducting privacy assessments
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities
  • Ability to translate complex privacy requirements into actionable guidance
  • Attention to detail and methodical approach to compliance
  • Strong knowledge of privacy frameworks
  • Understanding of security concepts
  • Knowledge of incident response

  • Master's degree in relevant field
