Cyber Defense – Mid-Level Data Scientist/Analyst (AI/Automation)
Koniag Data Solutions, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Cyber Defense – Mid-Level Data Scientist/Analyst (AI/Automation) to support KDS and our government customer in Alexandria, VA. This is a Remote opportunity.

KDS is seeking a Mid-Level Data Scientist/Analyst to support the development and implementation of AI and machine learning solutions for our cyber defense operations. The ideal candidate will combine data science expertise with cybersecurity knowledge to help enhance our threat detection and response capabilities.
Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- The Mid-Level Data Scientist/Analyst will support the development and maintenance of AI-driven solutions for cyber defense operations. Key responsibilities include:
- Implement and maintain machine learning models for threat detection
- Support the development of security analytics solutions
- Assist in creating predictive models for security operations
- Help maintain security data pipelines
- Develop and maintain security dashboards
- Support anomaly detection implementations
- Perform data analysis for security operations
- Assist in threat hunting activities using AI/ML
- Create and update analytical reports
- Support automation initiatives
- Conduct data preprocessing and cleaning
- Implement security metrics collection
- Document analytical processes and findings
- Collaborate with security teams on data analysis
- Support model validation and testing
Education and Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or related field
- 4+ years of experience in data science/analytics
- 2+ years of experience in cybersecurity
- Experience with machine learning applications
- Current Security+ certification
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of machine learning principles
- Experience with data visualization tools
- Knowledge of statistical analysis
- Understanding of cybersecurity concepts
- Experience with SQL and databases
- Familiarity with SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk)
- Knowledge of data preprocessing techniques
- Experience with security analytics
- Understanding of threat detection methods
- Good documentation skills
- Strong analytical abilities
- Team collaboration skills
- Problem-solving capabilities
Desired Skills and Competencies:
- Master's degree in related field
- Additional security certifications
- Experience with deep learning frameworks
- Knowledge of cloud-based analytics
