Koniag Government Services company is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support our government customer in Washington, DC. Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Govt. Security Clearance. This position is for a Future New Business Opportunity.

The Laboratory Technician will perform ballistic evidence examination and analysis while supporting NIBIN operations through various career progression levels. As an Alaska Native Corporation subsidiary, we combine technical expertise with our cultural values to deliver superior forensic support. 

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Technical Duties:

  • Examine firearms-related evidence
  • Operate IBIS equipment
  • Conduct microscopy examinations
  • Perform test fires
  • Process ballistic imaging
  • Analyze NIBIN leads
  • Maintain laboratory equipment
  • Support quality control processes

Laboratory Operations:

  • Assist firearms examiners
  • Maintain recovery systems
  • Process evidence inventory
  • Support partner sites
  • Conduct quality reviews
  • Document examination results
  • Maintain safety protocols
  • Support fleet operations

Career Progression Levels:
Level I:

  • Basic evidence examination
  • Initial IBIS operations
  • Training completion
  • Supervised work

Level II (1-2 years’ experience):

  • Complex acquisitions/correlations
  • Partner site support
  • Team leadership capabilities
  • Independent operations

Level III (2+ years’ experience):

  • Procedure development
  • On-site assistance
  • Advanced technical support
  • Travel capabilities

  • This position requires strong technical abilities, attention to detail, and the capability to work effectively in a laboratory environment while maintaining high standards for evidence examination and analysis.
  • Success in this role demands strict adherence to safety protocols and quality control procedures.
