Koniag Data Solutions (KDS) is seeking a skilled Hardware/Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain critical infrastructure supporting our federal government clients. As a subsidiary of Koniag Government Services, we combine technical excellence with our Alaska Native Corporation values to deliver superior solutions. This position requires an active Top Secret clearance. 

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Design and implement network architectures and solutions
  • Configure and maintain network equipment (routers, switches, firewalls)
  • Perform hardware installations and upgrades
  • Troubleshoot complex network and hardware issues
  • Manage network security and access controls
  • Monitor network performance and capacity
  • Implement disaster recovery and backup solutions
  • Configure and maintain VPNs and remote access solutions
  • Document network configurations and changes
  • Maintain network diagrams and infrastructure documentation
  • Support classified and unclassified networks
  • Implement network automation solutions
  • Coordinate with vendors for hardware maintenance
  • Provide technical guidance to junior team members

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in network engineering or systems administration
  • Active Top Secret clearance
  • Experience with enterprise network infrastructure
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols and standards
  • Experience with Cisco networking equipment
  • Proficiency in network security principles
  • Knowledge of routing and switching technologies
  • Experience with firewalls and security appliances
  • Understanding of TCP/IP and OSI models
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities
  • Experience with network monitoring tools
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies
  • Ability to read and create network diagrams
  • Experience with Windows and Linux systems
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Project management capabilities
  • Excellent communication skills

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related field

Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Professional certifications (CCNA, CCNP, Network+)
  • Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure)
  • Knowledge of Software-Defined Networking
  • Experience with network automation tools
  • Familiarity with SCIF network requirements
  • Knowledge of government security standards
  • Experience with classified networks
  • Understanding of Zero Trust architectures
  • VoIP and unified communications experience
  • Knowledge of satellite communications
  • Experience with load balancers
  • Background in data center operations
  • Previous military or government service
  • Experience with network forensics
  • Knowledge of NIST frameworks
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices
  • Experience with network capacity planning
