Network/Cybersecurity Engineer

Koniag Data Solutions (KDS) is seeking a skilled Network/Cybersecurity Engineer to protect and maintain critical network infrastructure for our federal government clients. As a subsidiary of Koniag Government Services, we combine security excellence with our Alaska Native Corporation values to deliver robust solutions. This position requires an active Top-Secret clearance.
Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Design and implement secure network solutions
- Monitor and respond to security incidents
- Configure and maintain security tools and appliances
- Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing
- Implement network security controls
- Manage firewalls and intrusion detection systems
- Configure and maintain VPNs and encryption systems
- Conduct security audits and assessments
- Develop and maintain security documentation
- Monitor network performance and security metrics
- Implement network segmentation strategies
- Support incident response activities
- Provide technical guidance on security matters
- Maintain compliance with security requirements
Requirements:
- 7+ years of combined network and security engineering experience
- Active Top Secret clearance
- Current CompTIA Security+ certification
- Experience with enterprise network security
- Strong knowledge of network security principles
- Experience with Cisco networking equipment
- Proficiency in firewall configuration and management
- Knowledge of security information and event management (SIEM)
- Experience with intrusion detection/prevention systems
- Understanding of encryption technologies
- Strong incident response capabilities
- Knowledge of security frameworks (NIST, RMF)
- Experience with vulnerability management tools
- Network monitoring and analysis skills
- Strong troubleshooting abilities
- Understanding of zero trust architectures
- Experience with security automation tools
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field
Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Additional certifications (CISSP, CCNA, CEH)
- Experience with classified networks
- Knowledge of cloud security
- Familiarity with DevSecOps practices
- Experience with PKI infrastructure
- Knowledge of government security requirements
- Background in threat hunting
- Experience with security orchestration
- Understanding compliance frameworks
- Previous military or government service
- Experience with SCIF operations
- Knowledge of containerization security
- Familiarity with scripting languages
- Experience with network forensics
- Understanding of supply chain security
- Knowledge of wireless security
- Experience with secure network design
