Summary/Purpose
|
The Quality Manager is responsible for supporting and leading the operation of the Quality Management Systems at the plant while meeting Corporate Quality directives. Quality Manager is to ensure the effectiveness of the entire plant’s quality program to ensure customer satisfaction. Quality Manager will ensure Customer quality and JTEKT integrity is protected meeting all Product Safety and Conformance requirements.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
|
- Directs the implementation and maintenance of the quality management system including the quality policy, quality procedures and instructions to meet the requirements of the business
- Managing and maintain all health, safety, environmental standards, ensuring associates are working safely, and following all safety rules and procedures
- Support and drive TPS lean management
- Identify and Train personnel according to product-safety related products, associated manufacturing processes, work instructions, and documents customer specific requirements
- Ensuring the Plant’s Quality Management System conforms to the requirements of ISO 90001:2015 International Quality Mgt Systems, ISO14001 Environmental Mgt Systems, ISO45001 Occupational Health & Safety, IATF-16949:2016 Global Automotive Quality Mgt Systems, & AS-9100 Global Aerospace Systems
- Provide the necessary personnel to implement the Quality Management system, to operate it and control the processes
- Ensure that the outgoing product quality is continuously improving
- Manages investigation of customer complaints/concerns regarding quality and appropriate action to meet customer satisfaction. Complete detailed customer issue reports within required timeframes. Build customer confidence on responsiveness and support.
- Measure, track, and improve both quality system input and quality performance output metrics
- Develop and maintain the annual Quality Action Plan
- Manage gauging, inspection and statistical technology
- Manage customer quality audits and surveys
- Reduce the cost of quality (internal scrap, appraisal, internal rework, internal sort, and external sort/scrap)
- Assist Sales, Engineering and Division Quality Assurance Management with the interpretation and development of procedures necessary to meet customer requirements
- Visit customers and suppliers as necessary to support quality programs. Resolution of open concerns/issues.
- Support quality systems and launches of new product – ie. Quality Gate 20, safe product launch responsibilities, QC Circles
- Manage and continuously improve efficiency and effectiveness of areas of responsibilities - Metallurgical Lab, Gauge Lab, DCC, and Receiving Inspect departments.
- Ensures training activities for development related to product quality and reliability.
- Support company policies and administer fairly and consistently
- Manage performance reviews for salary and hourly associates. Recommend coaching actions if required
- Ability to work beyond normal business hours as needed and take on other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position has supervisory responsibilities for salaried and hourly associates.

- Demonstrate strong problem solving skills and ability to lead and teach problem solving skills/methods
- Excellent computer skills and good presentation skills
- Lead quality deployment of new launches- Quality Gate 20
- Strong statistical (statistical process control) and analytical skills
- Understanding or the ability to learn and utilize JPS initiates of QA Network, Change Point Control, QC level of evaluation, QC Circles.
Education and Experience:
- BS – Engineering, Statistics, or Related Field
- Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in Quality
- Previous quality experience with automotive manufacturing is preferred
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- Work is mostly performed in a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards, and with substantial time spent working on a computer. Requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
- The performance of this position will require exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, safety shoes, and mandatory hearing protection.
- Will be regularly required to stand, sit, and reach with hands, fingers, and arms. Occasional stooping, kneeling, and crouching are required.
- Travel by automobile or plane requirement is approximately 10-15%. Must be able to travel to visit customers and suppliers with limited notice.
