Domestic Violence Shelter - Registered Nurse
Responsibilities Overview:
Treats and provides general nursing care to women and children who are domestic violence survivors in a trauma informed setting. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques
Responsibilities:
- Conducts nursing assessments for clients.
- Manage the medication system, administer and document medication treatment.
- Screen and monitor clients for medical problems/side effects.
- Communicate and coordinate services with other medical providers.
- Educate other team members to help monitor psychiatric symptoms, physical health and medication side effects in generic and specific manner.
- Conduct psychoeducational groups as needed.
- Develop strategies with clients, as appropriate, to maximize the taking of medications as prescribed (behavior tailoring, development of individual cues and reminders).
Position Qualifications:
- Work requires knowledge of nursing theory, principles, and practice - acquired through graduation from an accredited program of nursing.
- In keeping with the Maryland Board of Nursing guidelines, all nurses must have an active Maryland nursing license to practice in the state of Maryland, or must have an active license in a compact state that allows them to practice in Maryland, if they reside in that compact state. A multistate licensee who changes primary state of residence to another party state shall apply for a multistate license in the new party state within 60 days. The rule requires that a nurse apply for a new license in a new primary state of residence within 60 days of relocating, it does not require the new license be issued within 60 days.
- Two years positively referenced relevant work experience.
- Computer Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, ability to navigate through applications and utilize keyboard to input required documentation into health record
- Driving Record: Safe Driving Record with a valid driver’s license or alternative transportation plan, valid auto insurance that names employee as insured driver.
