Category Specialist
ExtraMile Convenience Stores LLC is a joint venture owned by Chevron and Jacksons Food Stores. The ExtraMile Franchise is currently made up of more than 1,100 convenience stores in Alabama, California, Idaho, Oregon, Mississippi, Nevada, Utah, and Washington. The formation of the new Company has resulted in opportunities to expand the ExtraMile brand within the current footprint, as well as to other states – resulting in exciting new employment opportunities.
This position will be based in Pleasanton, California.
We are currently seeking a Category Specialist that will provide support to the Category Managers on key initiatives and activities. As a Category Specialist, you will be responsible for:
- Active participation in supplier meetings
- Facilitate meetings and execution with the Price Book team, Loyalty team, and Promotional Guide team
- Ability to learn and support multiple categories execution, and programs
- Support creation of pop design with ideas, costing and forecasting, and management of digital menu boards
- Supports Category Manager with development of category reviews, analysis, and presentations
- Completes ad hoc projects and assists with program development
- Handles category issues in absence of Category Manager
- Works with the Rebate team to support rebate and payment collection
- Monitors and reviews supplier performance on promotion conversion, and sales gap reporting
- Assists with resolution of pricing, invoicing and general support issues
- Manages the setup and maintenance of new items
- Supports the merchandising team by creating and executing sales, margins and promotional reports
- Analyzes and provides interpretation of sales trends for product categories
- Creates and updates field communications, process documents and resource materials as needed
- Works closely with Sales Builder Specialist and Loyalty Manager to ensure alignment, strong communication of all promotions and proper data entry for promotional guides
- Vendor Setup: Communicates with Price Book, suppliers, and stores on new vendor set-up, new products, price and placement in collaboration with the space planning team
- Supports field personnel to ensure proper execution of programs and planograms
- Perform other duties as assigned
A Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business and/or a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in the retail or convenience store industry required. The successful candidate must be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and analytical tools. Must have the ability to work well in teams and handle multiple tasks while supporting multiple stakeholders. Being self-motivated and having strong attention to detail are essential traits. Time management is also critical to meet multiple deadlines.
